Change/improvement you want to make

happy days

Good post about best improvement you have made, so taking it on for ideas, what is the improvement you want to make but have not done yet. Restrict it to your top 3. We all know Almond owners would have a colour change so that one is not included :D
I would like to fit the updated anti roll bar. Gaz shocks. 5 speed box

Cheers. Mick

i was so tempted to moderate your post to say arctic white ;)

For me:

Improvements above standard:
1. ZF 4 speed box
2. electric fan to replace mechanical one
3. uprated cam

things to make it up to standard:
1. bushes all round,
2. sort out paintwork
3. sort all the leaks from diff, gearbox and engine...

Rich.

Definite intentions:
Replace front passenger door (got one, just waiting for warmer weather for painting)
Carbs from a 2.2TC (onto my 2000TC)
Replace engine drive fan with an electic one

Maybe one day:
Entire 2.2TC engine
Overdrive (Laycock off a Triumph Dolomite Sprint/Stag/TR6 mated to the Rover gearbox - must be worth a try)
Megajolt mappable electronic ignition

Front suspension rebushed and possibly new springs and shocks.

Sort out the tatty bits in the interior.

Respray in....Almond!!!!!

Darn, already said in the last thread  but again ...

1 uprated roll
2 ZF Box
3 Electric fan

4.2L V8 TDI Quattro transplant.

Funnily enough I was thinking just that too.

All I need is a written off RS4, and a suitable donor P6, Just chop the floor pan out of the Audi and drop the P6 on top of it, quick weld and jobs a goodun :D

Then I can have a sensible reason for being known as 'quattro' on a Rover forum 8)

Oh and a lottery win

Richard

Oh where do I begin....

Complete coupe mods (nearly there)
Fit an engine, any engine
Totally unsuitable alloys/tyres and lowered (just to upset Chris :D )

 :D :D :D

Lucky still has a little way to go on the mods path. The major ones are:

ZF 4 spd Auto
Electric fan with proportional drive control
Dunlop rear brakes with grooved discs and GreenStuff pads

But theres a few minor ones too:

Fit rear Irvine belts (after overhauling both sets)
Sort out boot including false floor
fit mirror stem light and VIP sunvisors
Fit halogen headlights and relays
Sort out paint in door shuts (you've inspired me Damian!)

All parts in stock except for the headlights, but many sheckles required to overhaul before fitting!

Chris

Once I get it running right and the bugs/gremlins out of it, then...
1)New shocks all round
2) Uprated anti roll bar
3) 3.9 cam...timing chain etc

It seems alot want electic fan to replace mechanical. Is their a good reason for this, I have no overheat probs, is the mechanical fan removed completely ?

Mr R/D you bully, it's all good fun and I might find a way to alter everyone's posts to burnt grey :D :)

4.2L V8 TDI Quattro transplant.

To me one of the great things about an old car is the simpler nature of the engine and it's control systems... I wouldnt mind a change but i'd prefer something that i can tinker with and fully understand (One day!) on a hobby basis.

Not for overheating necessarily - more that the mechanical fan saps power and economy and works best when the car is moving... when what you really want is a fan that comes on full power at stationary, so efficiency and effectiveness.

yes there is more - i'd love some irvine belts for PAE, and need to sort the boot floor too. Would also like to revert the interior colour of PAE to sandalwood as it says on the original order form!

Rich.

I have a Kenlowe fan on mine with the mechanical one removed.
Seems to let a few horses out of the stable, and mpg is better.
You really don't need a heavy engine driven fan constantly turning when you're displacing so much cold air at speed.
So the electric kicks in at a your desired temperature, normally when sitting in traffic in the summer!

Best addition I have made is a £24 central locking kit from eBay. Totally invisible for those concerned with originality, not too tricky to fit, and very practical. My next best will be an expansion tank for my radiator when I get around to it!

It's interesting to see how similar people's aims are their cars - especially on the suspension front!

My top 3 are:
Short term
1- Electric radiator fan and expansion tank.
2- Gliptone liquid leather kit
3- Halogen conversion with quad dipped beam setup!

Longer term
1- Engine rebuild (due for completion this month- update to follow.)
2- Cosmetics - bare metal respray, new chrome, sundym and Rostyles, etc.
2- Recreate something closer to 2000S spec suspension with beefier ARB, rear springs, etc.

Then.... buy a very early Range Rover and start again!

Electric fan, better door handles, header tank,

and maybe an Almond fleece with a Rover badge on it
John.

Ive been using mine as a daily driver for 11yrs and frankly I have had no need for any whiz bang elec ign,hot wire leads, coil, uprated susp, megasquirt,or efi etc.
All my previous dailys have been classics,XJ6,Dolly Sprint,Daimler 4.2,even a Cortina,Marina and an Allegro, never had elec ign or go faster filters, wide boy wheels and tyres.
I replace the plugs, points, new oil once a year and normally never touch them till next replacement.
All I want is a car that can be fixed at home with normal tools and without the aid of deep pockets,or to have to pay somewone else to do it,unless theres 100% no option!
Ive always aimed for originality, and fitting factory/period extra's.
But thats me!!
Everyone has their own ideas as to how they want a car to be modded or customised, and thats how it should be,but whatever you do to it,if you dont use it enough, then they do tend to go wrong more often.

Well lubricated windy ups are quicker!!
But as you cant open all 4 at once from the drivers seat,,so I open the roof!
