Am hoping that someone gives him a laptop, so the poor fellow doesn't have to endure re-runs of the Jeremy Kyle show ;)

... first thing that I thought :!:

Hope you get well soon, Chris, you are indeed needed badly !!

He's been in very good spirits when I've spoken to him on the phone, and still being part of the committee from his hospital bed helping to run the Club.

I'll pass on your good wishes when I next speak to him.

Hey everybody,

Just to let you know I've just heard from Chris.

He sounds in very high spirits. He's getting to and from the loo himself now. He's not allowed to put weight on his leg for 5 weeks and has to use a zimmer frame for a while, but the social services are trying to do what they can to get him home on monday if not before. He says he's having plenty of banter with his fellow inmates and that he's being well looked after :)

Rich

Good news indeed, thanks for update Rich. Hope you do get home soon and are getting better.

Thanks ever so much everybody for the good wishes!

I was home yesterday, by ambulance and complete with zimmer frame and all sorts of gadgets - some welcome, some less welcome (like the commode.... ). I'm on one leg and the zimmer frame but really quite capable around the house. Outdoors is going to have to wait until after the six week exam though, now around 4 weeks away.

The hospital was absolutely wonderful. It almost goes without saying that the nurses were just awesome. Doing things I wouldn't ask my worst enemy or closest partner to do for me and all with encouragement and humour. And so were the surgical team. Less OK were the young housemen, who needed quite a bit of education by the nurses and self. It went along the lines of; serious consultation between self and best nurses - find out score - talk to houseman and patient insists on particular treatment leaving houseman with nowhere to go. Te He! More seriously they were responsible for 36hrs of projectile vomiting after the third op, which the nurses and I fixed.

The other serious pleasure was the food! I'd pay serious coin of the realm for each and every meal in a decent cafe cum restaurant it was that good.

the hospital has a dedicated orthopedic clinic and was one of the very first ones in the UK. I had some keyhole on a knee there around 20 years ago. So the whole thing is set up to give the very best and most professional service on hips and knees and so forth. And is doing significant research in the field. So I really did feel I was in the very best possible place. And I had the Professor in person.

I didn't spot this thread yesterday, so It was a real surprise and lift this evening.

Now just to go steady and concentrate on being well enough to go to the NEC - a bit doubtful but I'll do my best!

Thanks again

Chris
