Back in April I was asked to assemble a cast of rare Rover P6's for a 50th anniversary article in the prestigious Classic & Sports Car magazine, being written by journalist Andrew Roberts.

It was a bit of a hairy co-ordination exercise, and I did have to make a last-minute substitution of one car a few days before, but I did pull it off.

We had the still-serving Met Police V8, Bill Webb's superb estate, the 'factory' convertible, the late-substitute Paprika 3500S of James Harris, and 149FLK, one of the 1963 press fleet.

The relief when all the cars turned up at the desired spot (The Elvetham Hotel in Hartney Whitney) was palpable.

It's a great article, C&SC doesn't really rattle my trap, but this one's worth buying.

Kudos to you, Nick, for a job well done in getting national media exposure for the P6. I can imagine the stress involved in pulling it all together.

Stan

Congratulations on your effort to bring them all together.
It seems to be an excellent article.

I will get that mag this month - well done Nick!

I usually check the classic press for P6 articles; was it just me, or did C&S totally miss referring to it on the cover... :?

I've bought a copy and it's well worth a read. This mag is normally too toffee-nosed for me with loads of POA adverts for things us mortals can never afford, but a nicely written article.

Good work on the compilation of cars Mr Dunning.

I'll keep my eye out for that one Nick. I agree that C&S subjects can be a bit too out of reach for most of us. It is nice to see the P6 getting a (rather big) mention though, well done Nick.

i bought the magazine yesterday (was getting dirty looks from the staff in the local library Morrisons) a nice article.

we don't get yr magazines here until weeks later - that's one to look forward to!

Weeks? I probably won't see it until November down here!
But looks like a great article, I will definitely keep an eye out for it.

Though I don't buy it very often, I quite like C&SC. I do enjoy reading about the more exotic machinery every once in a while & they feature a lot of very historic & important vehicles, plus things like famous film/film star owned cars & that sort of thing. It's a bit pricey though so most of the time I have a shufti in the motorway services at three in the morning.
I'll buy this one though.

Al, can you post me yours when you've finished with it?

I don't tend to finish with them Warren, part of being a somewhat obsessive collector means that I have about 1500 magazines in my library. But I should be able to scan you a copy. :D

Picked up a copy today (paid for it too :D )

Excellent work pulling this together Nick. Nice little bit on pricing too. Does anyone have a copy of Deadly Strangers as I'd love to see that Maxi vs P6 chase :D
