Have posted this before, but no answers. On the offside HIF6 carb there is a part shown 607800, listed as a bush for RH carb. When I carefully watch how well the RH carb spindle moves with the LH spindle there is some obvious lost motion at this bush before the spindle moves. Was wondering if anybody had a RH HIF6 on the bench, or in bits already, such that they could give me a rough drawing with dimensions, so I could make a new one please? Burlen say they do not know the part.
thanks

No, they are bushes for the butterfly spindle shaft.
Here is where 607800 goes...

I was employed at Rover and worked with SU and would say that originally 607800 would have been supplied to Rover from SU as part of the carb. assemblies and would have a SU part number on the SU build schedule. It is not shown as part of a SU Carb. supplied as a service spare. and that may be the issue with Burlen not recognising it . Can you not adjust the other rod lengths to accommodate some of the slack?

"Can you not adjust the other rod lengths to accommodate some of the slack? " - Exactly what I have done, so that the carbs open together almost totally. Next time that carb has to come off I will get that part off and make a new one.

It looks to me that any lost motion could be down to wear between the part 607798 it locates or the slot through AUD4239 where the butterfly shaft passes through.
It looks like a simple top-hat bushing, so a chunk of nylon in a lathe should allow you to knock one up pretty easily. If the slot is worn, it may get a bit technical, still doable, though.

Yes, agree completely - as soon as I have dimensions, or the item in hand I can make a new one. Slot wear on AUD4239 is unlikely as that is held on with a nut, wear between 607800 and 607798 is my bet.
