I agree it would have been unlikely, Humber Wolseley or Ford 'Z' more likely if the police were supplying it. At that time wasn't there still a waiting list? I remember reading Lord Young recalling owning a P6 in the sixties, he said he bought it new drove it for 6 months and sold it for more than he paid for it!

There was around year waiting list at the start - people who ordered them at launch eventually got cars in September/October 1964.

A lot of this is to do with the problems with the initial Pengam-built gearboxes. They couldn't get the cars to customers. The factory was working 24 hour shifts changing the gearboxes in the summer of 1964.
