I'm replacing my worn, low oil pressure v8 engine with a lovely 44k mile v8 and am nearly ready to get the old lump out. I am keeping the autobx as its a good one. I have borrowed a hoist from steve benyon (thanks so much!!) and got all the kit to do the job. My question is whether its easier to take the whole engine and auto box out as one unit, unbolt the box and fit to the new engine before putting the new unit back in. Or, should I unbolt the bell housing and trans cooler pipe mountings on engine, support the box and just take out the engine? If so, is it easy to mesh the torque converter to the box?
