Yes, it's in the fuse box, the end one IIRC.

And just to prove the point....

I'll remember that Harvey , i can work that out with my multi meter , i guess if i remove the fuse then find the dead side , that'll be the side i need when the fuse is back in ?

That's it. If you have problems getting hooked in at the fusebox itself you can always piggyback a supply from something else supplied through that fuse.

Hi all .
When i come to wire in my new stereo i'm going to need a permanent live as well as the ignition switched live . The ignition switched one is easy , the one feeding the radiomibile at the moment , but can someone advise where to take the permanent live feed from , as in which wire from the fuse box if poss please ?

So you have been peeking at your present, before 25th December! Tut, tut.

I admit to having had a good look over my new stereo too, much to the annoyance of the Mrs and my chagrin at being caught out and reminded that it is supposed to be a Christmas present.

Mrs did suggest that fitting it would give me something to do to keep me entertained on boxing day. I just need to ensure I have all the right terminals to do it, given my OCD for ensuring all should be 'just so' with the P6.

I Haven't looked , i just wondered if i "might" need a permanent live for that yellow wire

Hi folks .
Righto , managed to wangle a day in the cave after all the festivities , very therapeutic !
The mounting system is a very cleaver piece of work , totally adjustable , and you can bend , cut and modify the fitting brackets without voiding the warranty .
Wiring was pretty straight forward ( even for me ! ) the only "tip" i can pass on is the map reading light , permanent live for the memory ( clock and presets ) is well positioned and easy to tee into .
I only used retro style poineer box speakers , and a better solution might be another project for the future , but they'll do for now , look retro enough and sound o.k .
In one of the pics you can see how i fed the rear AUX cable into the cubby hole above the radio for the MP3 connection .
Now to try and download some AC/DC onto the 10 quid MP3 thing i bought from tesco  :D
Happy new year all :D

Hi, try turning the speakers the other way and bounce the sound off the window, rather
than being masked by the seat back and any back seat passengers head.

Never thought of that , probably would work well , i can see the science . However , i'm gonna go with how it is for now , with a view to fitting a false floor in the parcel shelf a few inches higher with some big woofers and twatters sunk in . It.ll look good , sound good , and easy to pull out and revert to standard .
One thing i forgot to say was how dusty and old the Radiomobile looked when i pulled it out , think it must of been in there the full 40 years .
The Radiomobile is dead , long live the Radiomobile :D

Looks great Stina, I can't wait to install my one. Does the fascia have to be fitted flush with the face of the head unit or is it possible to sit the head unit slightly proud of the fascia to emulate the old Radiomobile unit?

Basically the thing is infinatley adjustable and you can mount it to your own preference , i settled for it standing about 1/2 inch proud of the fascia to balance out the length of the control knobs . You'll need to cut about 3/4 inch of each side of the mounting brackets to get the unit into the dash , better than hacking the car about i thought , and as it says in the distructions , totally acceptable with the manufacturer .

Now that's an accessory I haven't heard of before :D

Just a little play on words , tickled me :D

I went out in it an hour ago , don't know how good it sounds , i took the old mans nipper swimming this morning , ears full of water , every thing sounding muted . ( I keep doing a funny jarring type of jump trying to clear it , must look a right muppet  )
