Guys
I need to make up some hooked rods to aid front spring removal, how long are they please ?

Thank you

Harvey has the specs and I am sure he will be along in a mo to help you out.

I just recently did this job on my car using the power of prayer, swearing and luck. The therapist says that I should recover given a year or two...

If you're just going to take them out it can be done easily... depending on your attitude to ealth n safety an all that. You could use the threaded rod method - take one bolt out, insert threaded rod (repeat) and wind it all out. Or... if all the suspension is together just cut the tops of the bolts off - the spring should be contained by the rest of the suspension set up. I am off to get my flame proof coat now...

I wus wondering if ............ I disconnect the roll bar and the shock abs, and put a jack under the upright will I be able to let the whole shebang down enough to get the spring out ?

Get your angle grinder out and have at those bolts - that should give you all the fun you can handle!

I have a very good friend over here, he is also an American, he is also full of ...................................

Thank you for your advice buddy.

London boy mate ;) Good luck - am interested to know what you're doing if you're not replacing the front springs. Look forward to your progress.

I am going to fit an adjustable spring seat along with a 2.25" spring as pioneered by another member on here who has been very generous in providing information.

I will post pics of the conversion, along with the rear mods in due course, after I have repaired the spring sized hole in the barn roof.

Errm, I'll tell you my method if you promise not to sue if it went wrong.... As a clue it involved a couple of "large chaps", some 16 tonne nylon straps and then a conventional set of spring compressors when out to release the compression...

I have a system too, will also need a promise not to sue :)
