Handbrake Boot.

I have just purchased an Handbrake Boot, which I was told is Original, but has it has no part number anywhere on it, I am a bit dubious as to wheather it is or isn't OE. Question!!! Did OE Handbrake boots have a part number on them. Thanks in advance.
Julian.

Hello Julian,

I can never recall seeing a part number on one.

The original boots are quite flimsy in construction, where as some of the after market ones are constructed to a much higher standard. However....this is of no benefit. Why?
The rubber is so thick that the handbrake lever when closed will lift up and apply the rear brakes through the stiffness of the rubber...

After one week of use, the boot splits...a complete waist of money. For a static display the boot would be perfect, but for every day use the complete opposite.

I then fitted an advertised OEM boot and no problems at all.

'Morning Ron. Many thanks for that, The one I have is what I would call " Flimsy " So it looks as though it is OE.

Try Scotts old auto rubber. They're somewhere in Austrailia. I have one of theirs on mine and it's a nice compromise between flimsy and too stiff.

Cheers,

Steven
