Hello!

After just browsing the forum for a few years I finally decided to join. Been a proud owner of a 1970 3500 P6 for almost two years now, during that time I have rebulit the engine and swapt the transmission for a zf. As most old cars it is a "never ending prodject" and next is to have the suspension fixed up and then the brakes taken care of. Exept for those minor defects the car is rather nice and best of all, rust free.

Regard
/Stefan

Both pictures are from the summer of 2014 but the car still looks the same.

And a picture of the engine (note the very professional use of duct tape on the "custom" expansion tank) and from januari when I had to take the car out of winter hybernation for a few days. Can tell you that Rover dosent make the best heaters...

Great to have you here! On your heater you might find replacing the rubbers inside the heater box greatly improves matters...

Nice car you've got there. I like the black and white treatment you've given the air filter. Do you have a Crower cam fitted?

Thank you. Great to be here :) Well the heater is coming out somtime soon, the bearings in the heater motor sounds quite bad and needs replacing, so the plan is to give the whole heate/fan unit some service at the same time.

Thank you Mr Task. Acctualy it is the cheepest Edelbrock airfilter from the local Us car parts store, and I done nothing to it, it just happens to be black and fit the engine compartment very well.
I also painted the inlet manifold and valve covers black which probably gives the whole engine bay a more uniformd look.

Yes I do, a 50230 to be precise, I also have stage one cylinder heads from V8tuner, a Lumenition ignition system. Works quite well.

How would you describe the 'driveability' of the Crower 50230 cam in a P6? What are it's characteristics? Does it noticeably come "on cam" at higher revs?
My Lumenition box worked fine for over a decade, then became temperamental last year, and being pretty much non-repairable I've gone back to points.

The engine pulls well from about 1800 rpm and realy comes to life above 3000 rpm. The only problem i have is when I drive at speeds below 80 km/h in fourt gear (I have a zf4hp22 transmission) and accelerates
slowly, not enough to activate the kick-down, then the engine feel a bit unresponsive. But as long as I kepp it over 2000 rpm the car is gladly Rovering on. If you still have the old Three speed transmission in your Rover
I think the 50230 camshaft will work just fine. I usually lock my car in third gear when driving around town and only use fourt gear when its autobahn time. I hope my answer helpt.
