Hi all,
Now have my engine fitted back in the car , (see my thread under Members projects: New Project begins, 1974 P6 3500 V8)
New battery, New engine bay mounted Huco electric fuel pump, Set the ignition timing to 0° TDC, compression stroke & rotor arm pointing to no 1 piston, plenty of fuel, but no go, plenty of puffing smoke/vapour out of each SU air intake as no filter fitted yet for initial start up but no signs of fire up but I assume I have a spark.
So when setting the rotor arm to number 1 pot, am I right in making sure it aligns up more or less spot on with that piston & with the timing pointer at 0° TDC?
I ask as you can still move the R/ arm about half qtr of a turn so it points just passed # 1 pot, its like taking up the slack, or do I set the pointer to -6° BTC as per the workshop manual and have the rotor arm set almost pointing at number 3 pot but when it takes up the 'slack' it is then pointing to number 1 piston ?
Having not done this since I had the red P6 so about 9 yrs lol, many thanks for any advice / help
Regards Damian.
