I am new here , I have just finished a major refit on a 1972 Range rover classic and stumbled accross this site while having fun with the lumention installation/troubleshoot.
I have to say you have re-kindled my interest in the p6.
Any chance you could tell me what to look out for when buying them, rust traps, mechanicals, and other faults.
I just used of 2000L of argoshield restoring the range rover to give you an idea of how much welding was done and that I can weld but I would rather not have to do that again! Also an advantage with the range rover is that most outer panles are ally and survive well so all the welding is under bolt on panels so paint isnt so much of an issue. I dont do paint so would rather not have to spend a fortune on a re spray.
Whats the specs on the 4 and 8 cylinder engines and which of each are the best to go for. I dont do many miles and am already running 3 old v8's two of them rover so I am used to the fuel consumption- Gulp!
Also how much to pay, I am not rich, the 3 v8's have seen to that so price is an issue! I didnt find as many as I expected on ebay!
Any one around in south hampshire, I would love t see a p6 up close again!
Thanks for any help you can offer, I am doing my homework on the p6 first as when I bought my first Range rover (not the 72) I hadnt done any and it cost me dearly!!!!
