I Need My P6 Fix!

Hi everyone :D

Right, with my new arrival getting closer, I am having all sorts of idea's of what I would like to do to it (mainly wheels and my Police Spoilers). There will be quite a few niggly odd jobs to do like wonky interior panels, carpet and other odds and sods.

I am getting very impatient as I can't wait to jump in behind the wheel. I have found myself searching Google for pictures of P6's which end up to be to small, and i'm also perusing ebay on a daily basis to get my P6 fix.

I wondered if you all would like to post pictures of your cars, blank out your nuber plates if you wish, I wont be offended. I love looking at pics, the more the merrier... engine bays, bodywork and especially interior. I would love to see your rides :D

Cheers
Jim

Thanks :)

Yeah it's a rare period modification which I was lucky to get hold of. I have taken a lot of stick for my engine, especially the carbs. Most of the critisism has been from a 'so called' professional level... One example was when I was trying to book it in for a rolling road session. I told that bloke where to go! I'm more of an SU man, but I have nothing against a Weber, I just wanted to be different. They have been a headache to get running right as the carbs were originally from a Triumph 2000 and still had 2000 needles fitted. Obviously the 1300 in the Anglia is quite a step down as in CC's, but after some careful mods and a needle profile book (the best £5 I have ever spent), I have got them more or less spot on. I will whack a pic up tomorrow if you like? :D

I'd love to see pics of the Anglia engine mods too.

Here's a pic of my S1 2000TC. Not the V8, but maybe it'll keep you ticking over :)

Thanks for the pic's fella's :D 'Sdibbers' you have already given me an idea regarding the front lights

Ok then lads as promised, here's a couple of pics of the Anglia's engine & carbs. You will have to excuse the oily bits... ah sod it, it's meant to be dirty isn't it?

And these two are from the evening I finished building it:

Hi JimBob,

What oily bits? Looks fantastic in there! Nice clean modding. I'm surprised the 'expert' had the gall to comment. I've seen 'professional' jobs that look far inferior.

BTW (I reckon you knew this anyway) the single lamp on the front is the original icealert. I think it needs calibrating, apparently I was in danger of black in 19 Degree c weather the other day! Most NADA P6s had them fitted as standard. Its a nice touch even now.

Hey hermione149,

What's the LCD display above the radio on your dash? Looks interesting....

Hi Jimbob,

Here's a few pix of my P6 Fleet to keep you going until your new baby arrives!

Nice job with the Anglia. My Dad had one of those back in the late sixties, a 1200 if I remember correctly (though I was just an ankle-biter then). He'd had the Head skimmed but that's about all I can remember about it. His next car was a Wolseley 6/110 (talk about complete contrast to the Angle Box).

Happy Rovering!

Hello Richard,

Hope you don't mind, I have some pics of the Soupdragon's under bonnet

Of cause not. :) Just think, that pic was taken a few weeks before the cam sprocket well off! Time machine anyone? :?

Here is the engine being built up, in the spare bedroom.

And here is what happens when you forget to check that the lock washers are bent over on the cam sprocket!!! Bent four valves and destroyed a valve guide. But then engine is in better condition now as after fixing it, again, I spent time setting up the valve clearances, carburettor and the mixture. Which made a big difference to the smoothness of the engine.

Thanks for all your comments and pictures fella's :D

Sdibbers... I noticed you have an Ice-lert, but it wasn't that I was looking at, I was checking out your clear indicator section  How easy would it be to get hold of some over there in the US of A?

I don't know. They seem to very on which state the cars were sent to. Mine was sent to Oregon first, I guess that was the standard there in 68. I have seen the opposite here with both lenses amber. I like the clear set especially with a series one grille.

If you can't get hold of one maybe you could make a rubber mould of the amber ones you have and cast in clear resin? You can get kits from a couple of craft websites. Also try the RCCC website, they might have some in their spares shed http://www.roverclub.ca/
