My P6 has had to sit outside since the house move as our garage leaks like a sieve and is damper than the exterior. I am not happy about it  and have Vaselined the chromework for the winter. A friend of my Mrs has a hubby who is VW Beetle mad but has been 'made' to clear the garden of his 'projects'. He is looking to hire a large lockup (for around 8 cars) which is literally 5 mins walk from my house, so I am looking to go in with him.
At least the old girl can shelter from all this p1ssing rain that just does not know when to stop. Until I manage to get my triple garage built, this seems to be the best option. I have avoided covering the car due to horror stories of ruined paintwork.
My car was under a cover when not in use for nearly 2 years. That means it got covered up at night when I got home and was uncovered most of the day when I was at work. I had a cover from these guys Cover Systems and it didn't damage the paintwork at all, even when I had to peel the cover off after a hard frost or snow.
Mine lives in the garage attached to the house, however, I have no internal access from the house (Might be a good thing as the better half would have to put up with ever more noises and smells!).
When I lived in Brooklyn I rented a garage from a nice family in East Flatbush (a really dodgy part of town). I would lock myself into the place when working on the car, even after growing up in SE London some of the locals made me nervous.
Mine lives outdoors at the moment, though it is under a carport which keeps most of the weather of it. I also drive it all year round, but do tend to avoid driving on freshly salted roads. It used to live in my garage til i started restoring my Firebird, so now don't have room.
Brown Rover was finally returned to the garage yesterday, just ahead of an unexpected hailstorm which broke over the city and was fierce enough to damage some of my fruit trees. Lucky indeed.
