I mean the lower suspension arms. It would be a bit hard to fill them and shake them about when they are back on the car.

well the bushes have now been replace part from the centre 1 will do that next then a good coat of paint will help :D

Hi Gareth.
This is a job I completed earlier this year...be mindful that when you reassemble the suspension that it is a lot more fiddly and time consuming than you think.
Particularly as you are working on the car in the same way as I did...crawling around with minimum space.
It will pay to get the car as high as you can to give you some elbow room.
Getting everything to line up and go where it should when you want it to is the challenge.
Also, i would recommend the use of all rubber if you want to retain the ride. :)

hi there yea i am using new old stock rubbers so keeping it standard yes what my plan is to get bolt the crossmember in and the arms after but dont lock nothing up till its all back to gether

Your stands look a wee bit light and uneven surface. Hope you have another secondary support somewhere. When I did mine (also on stands in the drive) I threw a couple of wheels under the floor and had a large trolley jack under the rear jack point at the rear valance (where towbar bolts to).

Good job though

yea my drive way is not level so car does sit lower down on the driver side yea i am only using the 2 axle stands at the back of the sills and once the cross member came off the diff went back up to the right hight so kind of left that along i have put the rear wheel back on just to make a looks a bit more tidy (dont want to upset the neighbours) i have only got 1 jack and thats the hightest mth will go

well has now got my red oxide primer and black hammerite to paint mth arms hopfull will do this week end hope is dry

well i have now given 1 side of the arms a coat of paint just got to wait till its dry to turn them over here are some pics

so once dry can turn them off and do the other side and then the black can go on cant wait

When the paint's dry you should spray cavity wax inside those lower arms as suggested earlier. I had to repair sections of the ones on HOT earlier this year as they had rusted from the inside around those breather holes.

yea i did see those hole on each side of the bushes mth link are missing the little plastic bits but did by a new 1 from wins and still got the plastic pits still in but yea i will get somthing in those arms

I removed the plastic bungs and then poured in some warmed up dinitrol.

Then keeping the arm warm with a hot air gun, just kept turning the arm around until I was sure I had covered it all in there. Then did it some more, you can't be too sure.

Poured the remainder out and pushed the bungs back in.

I actually had one of these snap on me once, right under the spring, so was very careful with the tin worm eradicator when I did these.

well i have now finally finished the painting on the arms and cross member hoping to put it all back together sat or make a good start with her

yea i cant wait to have it all back together and least i could use her again will be replacing the de dion tube as well but that will have to wait till next year so the rest of the suspension can have a coat of paint as well didnt relise how good she is underneath now then when i first had her

Well mth is now back together and drives and takes the bumps better but still does sit a bit lower on the 1 side any ideas spring got replaced 4 years ago and when it was apart didcheck them and are the same hight

First off, when you did the front suspension, did you check that both front springs are the same length when off the car?

If so, then you have the same problem as Lucky did. Not surprising as they are both similar ages. If you take the trouble to measure the rear spring pocket heights in the base unit, I bet you'll find that one is a lot higher than the other. Having spent a lot of time doing the measurements on mine, I think I can shortcut all that for you and simply say, remove all packing bar the rubber washer on the high side, and then pack the low side until both are level. You may be surprised at just how much packing this needs!I presume that you spotted the packing rings that live in the spring pockets of the trailing arms?

Chris

Hey i fitted 4 new rubber on up and bottom yea did noticed there were metal spaces rings might try and get to more for the 1 side
