How could I say no to this great looking arden green gem!!!
A 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five,and a 2 owner.
Chassis no; 42501465A
Engine no; 42501497A
Base unit no; BA4 7 001486.
Its definately 001486 the 4 & 7 stamp after the BA is a little less clear!
1st reg'd 1/8/68.
Built June/July 68.
1st owner from 1968-74 did 20k miles!
Last from 1974 till 2014 did 23k miles and it was dry stored from 1977-end 1994 and mid 1995-2014.
NEW INFO UPDATE!!
The previous owner has just confirmed that he parked it up in early 1977,and then got it out in Jan 1995,MOT'd it and taxed it for 6 months, not being used again once tax ran out in June 1995!
This is consistent with the MOT from 1976 with 38k miles and all previous MOT's showing circa 4k miles a year!
MOT history!
1st Aug 1971 = 10775m
2nd Aug 1972 = 14136m
3rd July 1973 = 20592m
4th Sept 1974 = 25971m
5th Sept 1975 = 31875m
6th Sept 1976 = 38104m
Garaged early 1977 till 1995,for 18yrs!
7th Jan 1995,but MOT not found,taxed for 6 months.
Garaged early 1995 till Feb 2014,for 19yrs.
8th Mar 2014 = 42977m
Just 43k miles genuine, never ever been welded!! :D
A super solid base unit,a near mint interior, really sweet and strong engine and box!
Dry stored since 1995.
Recommissioned and new MOT.
Initial inspection done by Stina,"Cheers mate :) "
I went to see it today, did a full poke about checkover,in,out,up and under!
Test driven, the price negotiated and the deal done!
Collection next week, hopefully along with a nice cache of spares, from the previous owner!
Just haggling a price for all of the NOS spares!!
Only obvious faults,it needs 4 wings and a total repaint,as most other panels have very minor scabs/scars,but no dents!!
And part of the cache of spares includes 4 NOS wings! :)
More next week once its home and I can have a play! :D

You cant of been in Sparky!?
On my way down to Poole!
I like to get past the HGV's before they convoy and slow up!
And wots,WOT!?

Re: Resistance is/was futile!!

That is a beauty! :D

Arden is a lovely Series 1 colour (fond memories of my Dad's first TC). The early gear selector knob as well. Does it have the '3500' & 'V8' badges high up on the boot?

I was in my Audi, just coming back up north from Dorset, when this P6 came towards me. Then heard it roar and it was gone :D

Put a smile on my face I must say.

WOT is a term for having your foot down hard (Wide Open Throttle)

Re: Resistance is/was futile!!

A verbal £££'s deal has just been agreed for all of the NOS spare parts the previous owner has stashed!
But pending inspection on the day of course!!
They are!
Set of 4 nos wings! :)
A full set of nos lights still boxed! :)
A set of 4 nos S type trims!
1 o/s nos outer sill cover painted arden but never fitted.
Will be picking up the car and the parts on Weds 9th April,if all goes to plan! :D :D

That's on Panorama road , Sandbanks , Poole . Some of the most expensive real estate in the world along there ! :D

Re: Resistance is/was futile!!

My Brother had an identical car to that.

Back in the day, he paid £75.00 for it, and drove it for several years before severely shortening it with the help of a MkIV cortina on a narrow bridge in Stalbridge.

Nice car.

If I had the room, that would be in garage along with a few other 70's machines :D
