My 1968 S1 Rover P6B Three Thousand Five's Refreshtoration!

Re: My 1968 S1V8P6B.The Refreshtoration is 99% finished!!

Hi all.
Would anyone who saw my P6 at Shepton Mallet, and took some pics, please send them to me! My phone went dead on the Sat,so I put it on charge overnight and then forgot to take it with me on the Sun! GRRR!!!

Re: My 1968 S1V8P6B.The Refreshtoration is 99% finished!!

The badges are all on,4 door panels and handles all on,rear boot reflectors on,but want a nice pair of new ones.
Still a bit more cleaning and polishing to do in its many orifices, and the stainless trim bits!
Got a trickle of grease showing on the nsf wheel which could be a wheelbearing running hot,or the brake binding a bit!
Will have to investigate,as it does seem to have excess road noise on that side!
Will check caliper pistons are free, put on a spare hub/disc assembly and see what its like then!
Silver & black new number/plates should be done by end of the month!!!.

Looking good Dave. What style of plates are you having?

Re: My 1968 S1V8P6B.The Refreshtoration is 99% finished!!

Due to the size of the rear plate,I cannot get pressed silver on black,so am going with gloss black foamalux perspex stuff with silver lettering!
I am making them up myself,so I have got a vinyl vehicle sign maker doing the lettering, which will be ready to stick onto the black once its cut to shape.

Very nice car Pilkie. I would love to see it live sometimes. What events do you plan to go to this summer/autumn?
regards, Barten

Got the Cibies fitted on today!
I adapted, "cut and drilled",some Lucas lamp L brackets, rather than make some from scratch. Bit of jiggling to line them up before the bumper went back on,et voila!
Now all I need to find are a nice pair of grey covers for them!
So pleased I got the 4 poster,it makes the working height just right,+ fitted final screws for sill covers as well!!

Amazing...! All I would do is bung the overriders on then perfection would be fully achieved! I love the 'coloured' plates on this car (if it were my car they'd stay put!), the Cibies look amazing and the Rostyles look beautiful... All in all this is one truly stunning P6B, you're a lucky $od!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: My 1968 S1V8's refreshtoration is 99% finished,Video view!!

Not sure if the overriders will fit back on with the cibies in the current position, and they look wrong too far out, will investigate later!
Black and silver appropriate numberplate being sorted this week!
Hope to be at the Weston-super-mare classic meet at the town square 10-3 tomorrow.21/6/14
Dont think I have to book it in,too late now, will soon find out!

Hi Pilkie,

That car looks spectacular! Top quality workmanship and a very thorough job.

Will you keep it or do you think that you might sell it?

Ron.

Re: My 1968 S1V8's refreshtoration is 99% finished,Video view!!

Hi Ron.
Thanks!
I've tried not to go ott with it!
I had thought that I would need to sell it,but fortunately now,my financial circumstances mean I dont have to,which is a big relief to be honest!
However,as with anything,if the right offer is made and there is another project in sight,I might.
BUT!!
It would have to be a seriously good offer or project that tempts me to sell it!
My TR6 can now be kept in my brothers garage if the need arises!
That will give me the garage space to do a quick recomission/repair and sell on if something turns up.
Need to be kept active doing what I enjoy, and can earn a few pennies on whilst off sick,as I wont be returning to employment until early 2015 at best.

Re: My 1968 S1V8's refreshtoration is 99% finished,Video view!!

The "underriders" on the earlier 4 cylinder cars which are just spaced to allow a 7 digit British registration plate between them, look great
with Cibies centered exactly beneath the outer headlamp.
Sadly the larger valance air intake of the V8s upsets the spacing of this arrangement, I think.
However, "Sexy" looks great by any standards - nice work Pilkie.

Gave the S1 a really good day out today!
And he performed without fault!
1st we went to Weston-super-mare for 11am,and met a few freinds for lunch at the town square gathering that happens nearly every sunday.
Bit of an air display with a spitfire and hurricane.and stunt planes,+ parachutists!
Then at 2pm headed off to Bournemouth for the Classics on the prom meet for 4-6pm.
Met up with Stina, who had looked it over for me before I bought it,,,Hope you liked it?
John the previous/last owner was also there as I had let him know I was going!
Words cant describe how he felt seeing it refurbished!
I caught the sun a bit on my left leg, thats gonna really smart tonite!

Us at Weston-s-Mare

John looking over his ex pride and joy!

Us overlooking the pier at Bournemouth!
