Well, I've now had my 2000 for about 3 weeks and in that time I've done a lot of miles and have enjoyed it a great deal. My 2000 is my first car and the car that'll I'll be using on a daily basis for the foreseeable future so I thought it was worthy of a thread to keep you all updated as to its progress. Since getting the caliper replaced and getting the De Dion gaiter fitted I've done a few little jobs. Within a day of me getting it roadworthy it blew a sealed beam, and the other main lamp, a halogen conversion had a chip in its glass, so I decided to buy two new sealed beams which I fitted the day they arrived. At this point I discovered that some of the screws on the car had had their heads damaged and in some cases the wrong screws had been used, making this apparently simple job slightly more complicated than it needed to be. I've adjusted the steering wheel so it now sits horizontally when the wheels are straight as it should, I've fitted the thermostat for the Kenlowe so that it doesn't need to be switched on and off manually and I've had what little is left of the exhaust welded up.
I've now managed to arrange to get a new stainless system made and fitted locally, by a place called Top Gear in Dumfries, who will do it to original spec, fitted, for £350 which I thought was very reasonable. That's being fitted on Thursday morning.
Other than that most of the work on the car I've done has been cleaning. I washed and polished the car quite a few times already and it looks better for it. In terms of the interior I've been feeding the leather a bit and seems a bit softer, but it's still cracked, so I may recolour it at some point. Here are some photos of the car taken recently.
