My mean green hornet

The latter is a common problem on P6 rear brakes where they are already seriously thin.

Ooh...dont like the sounds of that considering mine are .3mm within tolerance.
New discs seem only avail from UK, and whilst price is reasonable, I'm sure postage would be steep.
I do remember seeing a set of front discs from DBA here in OZ...something like $600+ from memory.

I think you're excused the wrath of the anti disc skimmers, then Bill! Well worth exploring how much it costs to import a set though. I'm surprised Scott's don't have them?

Chris

MOT pass today with zero advisories :D
Thanks to Duncan and Nick for helping me out with the rear brakes, and letting me do most of the work with their tools.
Highly enjoyable cruise back from the MOT centre 8)
So...
Car on the road=making some money=progress with the green hornet :D
Jim

Dave Herns, it was done at Petworth MOT centre today.
Probably a little far for you!
But yes they do see a lot of P6s so know what they're looking at/for.
Could be a good or bad thing depending on one's car i guess!
Jim

Yes a bit far for me . I used to go to a place where the tester was in his 60's and wore glasses with lenses 1/2" thick ! He'd miss things like cracked brake hoses etc

Not much new to speak of except I'm awaiting a delivery of some red magnecor leads.
Took her out for a good drive in the (suprisingly warm) English sunshine earlier and I only succumbed to the temptation to overtake once, honest
There are still some ignition/throttle linkage/kickdown gearbox pressure issues i'm trying to iron out, but I wont be making any more changes until I fit the new leads..
Here's the hornet cooling down after returning home

I used to think I would like to find an easy MOT inspector, not now though, let him do all the checks thoroughly and find any faults early so it can be sorted.
Congrats on the MOT pass, another P6 on the road for another year, well done.

Magnecors arrived this morning, took one week exactly.
Just fitted them, very happy with the quality now I have them in the flesh.
Not entirely sure about the routing yet, I used to run my old leads under the rad hose for the left bank..I've routed them on top to start with as I think that's the preferred way??
The all important pics

Fired up nicely but not had a test drive yet, shall report back later.

Yesterday I opened the garage to a strong petrol odour, and sure enough under the car was a puddle  of fuel with a very constant drip.
A couple of days prior to this I was stuck in a long tail back and took a short cut down a lane, which I was assured met up with where we wanted to go...
Unadopted is the term i'd choose for the 'road'
Dead end surrounded by dogs barking and threatening to get under my wheels, I had to reverse the whole way back!
This resulted in an almighty bang under the car where I must have hit a mound of earth or something.
Terrified it was the sump etc I had a quick look but nothing seemed to be leaking.
Fuel economy the next day appeared to be terrible..hmmm?

Anyway this was the offending article

So i'm glad for the bump really.
This was the connecting hose directly after the electric fuel pump, completely shot. MOT tester didn't find it 2 weeks ago..
I had a spare length so it was a nice quick satisfying job.
It must have been leaking slowly for a long time, but just enough to evaporate and not leave a puddle

The car also idles a little smoother after replacing the hose, perhaps it was drawing air into the line at different throttle openings?

Nice day for a drive 8)

Factory fitment was under.... (And that's the right bank...)

Ok good I prefer them under anyway, getting toward being stretched routed over the top.
Offside driverside right bank then

You will notice a difference with the new leads Im sure, but watch out, red magnecor leads are much sort after at a certain house in Manchester
