Neatening the boot lining

Can anybody suggest a way to improve tatty/torn boot lining plastic please? I have replaced the cardboard panel covering the fuel tank with textured ABS, which I think looks pretty good, but the ragged bits of thin plastic on the sidewalls is not attractive.
thanks

I have the same issue, but so far no solution. Have been trying to source some of the original trim clips for the side (thin) plastic, but also without success. I think there was a Rover Owners Club meeting in Sydney some time ago which featured a boot restoration, but unfortunately I was unable to attend and have lost the detail. Not sure if anyone in the NSW club can help?

My boot lid liner is 1/16 ply painted black. Fortunately I have a spare boot lid so I could practise on that. I tried ABS at first but it was much too heavy.

Looks good! I noticed tonight that Wadhams have a new replacement on their website, but postage to Aus will kill it.

Hi,
I made 1,5 mm aluminium panels and trimmed them with automotive grade textile carpet. The boot floor is 12 mm plywood.
And fitted a “mini” spare to gain width.

Started looking into something similar. Propose to use some plywood already on hand, gluing carpet style stuff to it. Made a template for the off-side lower boot wall - fits well. When I tried it on the near-side I find the front end of the side wall is different - there seems to be a rounded bulge there that is not on the off-side....?? Wheel well? why would it be different ?

"Near side" is left hand side in OZ - right?
The bulge, as seen in the trimmed panel and barely visible in the aluminium panel behind the spare, is for the exhaust pipe.
If you make plywood panels, I propose you make a local section in aluminium similar to mine and attach it to the plywood. It will be much easier to shape and make the bulge less obtrusive.

Thanks, that makes sense. Yes near-side (not a common term down here) is LH side, same as UK. Mostly we just use left or right side. Might give that side a miss for now, but the right side needs to be much neater, torn rubber lining is very unatractive.

Well underway. Moved the incoming wiring to be less intrusive - not a trivial exercise, involving pulling the number plate lead back and then relacing it under the rear valance. I have a cardboard template for covering the sidewall, ready to cut in alloy. Tossing up how to fix it in place - might go for nutserts that I have left over from building the Clubbie, hence the removal of the original clip sockets. Plan to glue carpet material on the flat area surrounding the battery , and the curved part of the wheel well. The purple wire feeds the centre brake light.
