New Battery Required

Hello everybody,

my batt died over the winter here in Austria. Now I need to get a proper one over (here plus and minus sit on the wring side).
Any hints in terms of international manufacturers?
Also – since the car is sitting somewhere far away and I forgot to take measure - can anyone help with the right measures. I couldn't find anything in the manual?

Thanks a ton

Thomas

There is no need for special specifications on the batt. As long as the capacity is OK and the battery fits in its place all of them are fine.

I replaced mine with a normal battery bought at the scrapyard one year ago. 15 €. Still in use and the engine starts at the first attempt, even after two or three weeks garaged still.

Thomas,
I recently bought an Exide Excell for one of my cars and fully intend fitting one to another of the cars shortly. It fits the battery box well, had the terminals in the correct positions, and at 95 euro was good value. It is a sealed unit, with a CCR of 540amps and a 3 year warantee. It recently came second in Car Mechanics battery test (scored an impressive 18/20), beaten by the Varta Silver Dynamic/Bosch S5. It was far more compact that most of the other batteries of similar output the stockest had, and after discount slightly cheaper.

Dave

Thanks guys for the inputs.
Since it's an emergency – I need to move the car – I think it's going to be a Varta 56 Ah Black Dynamic 89,- . The dealer is right around the corner and promised to drop by after him visiting the dentist. Fingers crossed.
There is one issue though. The batts height is 190 mm whereas the one that's in place right now is only 175mm.
We'll see tomorrow.
