I think that the E6 is short enough to fit into a P6 engine bay.

Speaking of which - is the E6 the same engine as the Wedgie Princess 2200 used? Much rather break one of those than a Landcrab or a ZA SD1...

Or you could just put in the Volvo straight-six - I think it should fit. It's designed for transverse installations, and there is a RWD conversion for it (someone here once mentioned seeing one in a Caterham). Failing that, the Volvo five-cylinder (also used by Ford in the Focus ST and RS) should definitely fit...

Yep, Land Crab and Princess 2200 use the E6 in short stroke / narrow bore / small valve format. In this configuration it's a very sweet smooth running engine, but a bit asthmatic. It's also transverse which makes it a bit of an event to use in a P6. Far better break an Aussie or ZA Marina with the E6! And the Volvo engine is all alloy.

Just looking at this discussion. Here's some photos of Bill Eve's frankly orgasmic S.A. built V8, taken in September 2006. I could have sworn there was a Rover chassis number on it - and I'm right - photo 4.

As I understand it the cars were shipped out from Solihull, part assembled with the roofs cut off, then completed using local materials in South Africa, to get past the anti-apartheid sanctions in place.

You mention the Volvo engine being all-alloy - I take it the E-series is iron? I'd take the modern Volvo engine any day, personally...

Bordeaux Red, the P5 colour. With a very light coloured roof that almost looks to be made from suede!

Note the seats with S.A. manufactured seat covers. They are the same pattern in Winston's car.
