Newbie to the forum

Well, I decided not to re tax 'Chatterbox' due to her tired engine, just picked one up fairly locally so i should be able to make one good one from two, though i might just throw this one in and see how we go. That way i can rebuild the original in my own time, the one i've got is an SC which i'm guessing the manifolds wont be swap onto the TC so if anyone needs an SC manifold, then drop me a line

I'm afraid the heads are totally different between the SC and TC, so you won't be able to swop maifolds etc. You'll do much better to swop the TC head onto the replacement engine. That way you'll be able to use the existing exhaust system and the existing throttle linkages. Do make sure that you set the tappet clearances on the TC head as an absolute minimum before fitting it. Tight clearances are a sure route to both poor performance and later valve trouble.

Hi Chris,

thanks for that, i thought the heads were the same but the manifolds were different? Is the complete cylinder head a different casting? I was just hoping to lift out the original engine, swap over the manifolds etc and accessories and then rebuild all the parts required on Chatterboxes original engine. Can you get the TC manifold new from anywhere?
If the complete heads are different there might not be any point in messing about with this replacement engine at all perhaps, i think i need to get a parts book!

Well thats a bit of a beggar, i'll have to look around for some other bits as well then, still good lesson in parts identification
