Nooo...that colour's got to go!

Thats brightened it up a bit. Did you paint it yourself? Now you have annoyed the purists with a non originl colour, why not slam it to the floor and put in a 3.9 ... or even a small block!Nice to see another old P6 cared for and out and about.

Hello Stan,

Your Rover looks great!! :D Nice bright colour,...stands out, wonderful.

Hope you have a great holiday.

All the best,
Ron.

Looks like your painter has done a cracking job! 8)
Its a heart stopping job fitting it all back up with fresh paint! :|
I cant wait to get started on mine later this year, nearly got everything together now.
Have a good holiday!

What a fantastic outcome! love it, but now for the big question, what was the cost for the painting, ignoring your many many hours of labour.

Wish there were painters here in NZ that you could trust to take the care they did with yours in the prep and application of paint, what I mostly see is paint finishes that are at best poor.

That looks the buisness, very close to Richelieu.

People will now notice your car, comment on how lovely it looks and offer to buy it.

Wish I had done that with my old Baccy leafer..

Hi all,

I'm posting from my mate's place in Hinckley - where I shall very shortly be deep in sleep.

Many thanks for all your kind comments...always great to get the views of one's peers!

It's been a long runner this one...why do all my projects turn into sagas?...and, as Paul posted earlier, today's deadline added a certain frisson!

Colin - I've got a Dupont colour sample of Richelieu and that's where I was aiming. Went through a good number of paint chips at the factors before arriving at Crimson. And as you say, it's very close!

As for costs...and bear in mind I did all the stripping and reassembly and got a good deal through a friend of a friend...after adding in all the peripherals, it still all came out well under 4 figures from my wallet. :)

The cash I've saved will no doubt just about cover the plastic surgery on my fingers.....

Cheers for now,

Looks good, surprised you found somewhere willing to do it for that price
Great result 8)

Stan,
congrats! What a beautiful job! The car looks absolutely stunning. Looks like all that preparation has paid off. Really glad it worked out well for you mate. Think I'll have to tackle my own now as I don't have the progress of yours to look forward to any more! :D .
Regards,
Dave

Well done Stan. Superb job you've done there and a very pleasant shade of red too.

So now you've done the paint and the engine last year that must mean a tinkering free summer then?

Stan, you lucky man, your car looks terrific. Cracking result. I hope you enjoyed your jaunt to France and back without mishap, and I'm betting you drew many a long admiring glance and Gallic "Ooohs!" and "Aaaahs!" from the locals. Many miles of happy Rovering in your smartly presented P6. I'm really motivated by the result, I'm currently getting my engine top repainted before the planned Easter transplant, and currently looking around for a paintshop who can offer a good respray for the right price. Should the Arsenal win the Premiership or the Champions League this season I'll do my 3500 in Monza Red to celebrate. If not, I'll go for a blue, current favourite still BMW Monaco Blue metallic.
