Richelieu was also used on early SD1 models.

Colin

The Richelieu I had mixed gives the Paint Code (BLVC number according to Ruediger's listing) as 211 and the Production Years as 1975 - 1980, the Scarab code being JCA and the years 1972 - 1975.

Think I'm going with the Richelieu by the way! :)

Hi all,
Finally located the short list given to me a few years ago for the best matches to the colour on my car!
22 - BLMC Cherry
209 - Carmine CAA
211 - Richelieu CCE
Need to locate the sample I had mixed at the time, it was either Carmine or Richelieu. Your car should hopefully look stunning in it's new colour!
Regards,
Dave

Well...the job's underway..

I could see when I was stripping the trim that all the wings and doors were bubbling around the side strip clip holes...

...and a big dent in the NSF door courtesy of some @#*% in a Lyme Regis car park last year...

The bonnet I had from chrisw, although hugely better than the original, had quite a few blebs...

Boot lid too was pretty rough, along the lower edge especially...

Waiting their turn... :)

Hope there's something plugging that fuel filler  ! Tabacco leaf dust and petrol don't mix! Good to see her taking shape. That's the best looking front valance I've seen in a while, wanna swap? :D Looking forward to the results.
Regards,
Dave

Hi Stan, looks like there's no going back now then.

Are you going completely back to bare metal or just smoothing the rough bits out? Are you doing the prep work in someone elses paintshop?

Hi Dave,

What you're seeing is just the gaiter - the filler hose is still in position onto the tank underneath and is plugged and jubilee'd with the filler elbow and cap.

Hands off my valance mate! :D

Hi Paul,

You're right...can't stop now!

I de-trimmed the car at my place, had all the doors and wings off to underseal/waxoyl, and all the window frames out then drove it up to the bodyshop - with the doors ratchet-strapped closed and the wind howling in!

I've got a mate in the motor trade who's recommended the sprayer - who I've done a very good deal with on price!

Not bare-metalling everything, just where needed. then primed and bar-coated ready for the new livery.

I'll take the wings and doors off there when the initial prep's done and they'll be painted off the car ready for me to refit - keep the cost down! 8)

Cheers,

Panels off this afternoon...bonnet & boot lid tomorrow...

Quite a job getting the colour mixed today, involving much to-ing, fro-ing and arm-twisting...but got there in the end. And tomorrow's the big DeVilbiss day! :) :) :)

Stay tuned...

I reckon its gonna be BRG!!
While we are on the paint subject?
What' the overall opinion on having all the steel panels, dipped, stripped, fully galvanised, and etch primed before paint?
Obviously the bonnet and boot wont need it,just a V V good prep.
I have now got a full set of near rust free panels,I am about to undertake the same job on mine sometime this year!

And the lucky winner is...

All will be revealed soon! :)

Today spent re-fitting seals, door glass frames, decker panels, etc... Valances, bumpers, interior trim, and little bits like door trims and B post cappings still to do then it's back to the sprayshop for compounding and polish on Wednesday..or maybe Thursday

Then pics in glorious colour! Have to say I think it looks stunning...but then it would after Caramac, wouldn't it?

All got to be done by Friday/Saturday...including the roof re-colour possibly. Ferry to France/Belgium next Sunday.

Cheers,
