Richelieu was also used on early SD1 models.

Colin

The Richelieu I had mixed gives the Paint Code (BLVC number according to Ruediger's listing) as 211 and the Production Years as 1975 - 1980, the Scarab code being JCA and the years 1972 - 1975.

{{{{{Think I'm going with the Richelieu by the way!}}}}}}}}}} :)

I am still debating if I am going to change the colour on mine when I get the spare panel set done.???
Not a lot of choice really,it has to be either,Red,Green,Yellow,or leave it white?
Will have to match the bronze/huntsman trim/webasto!
As the TR6 is red,I dont want a matching pair!
Think I will probably keep it white and then buy an electric blue 3rd classic, dunno what though???
GT6,Vitesse,Jensen Healey,???
Will have to be british "red/white/blue!!" :)
Defo not an MGB/Lotus/Ford/Vauxhall/Mini!,and no foreigners.
I have a feeling it will have to be a 2 door hard top GT or sports!
Any Ideas ???

Hi PIlkie

The Huntsman roof you already have transforms Mexico Brown into something that looks really classy. I think it's the lighter brown sills as much as the actual roof colour. Certainly with black roof and trim I would agree to it looking rather dull, but with Huntsman.... Dig some pictures out for a re-assessment!

3rd classic? It's just got to be a Jensen GT! The dash is not a million miles from your TR6, the accomodation en route to Rover. 100% British bits, all from cheap cooking cars with the exception of the engine... In Jensen days the engines were a nightmare (a mate of mine at Uni had a series 1 Jensen Healey from new so I am very very aware!), but in later 2.2 Lotus Excell form they were a much much better bet. So a solution to any problems you find is reasonably easy.

Looks how the Scimitar always ought to have done if engineered in proper materials (I don't approve of fibreglass!).

Oops, forgot, the GT will have the Getrag 5 speed, so not quite 100% British.

Hi Chris.

Agree probably will have to look at a Jensen or 2,they are still cheap enough, but hard to find a good tax exempt one needing tlc!!
Can be a total nightmare if rusty,as panels hard to get.
Am leaning towards a GT6 though,as seperate body/chassis,I could squeeze all 3 into the garage just!!
And sorry but wouldnt have mexico or tobacco! yuk!!
ps
Am finishing my current job this fri,and taking a week off before starting the new one, will have to see you about that nsf door before you go away!!

Dave

Nothing wrong with it at all if you like it!
But with a brown interior it would be way too much for me!!

The time it has taken to debate this one, the panels could have been off and back on painted :D
True!!
I was thinking, just for the hell of it, and going crazy,of doing a lookalike Joseph replica!!
If I had the space to store the painted spare set of panels, and the cash to have it done! :)
And as its my daily driver the time to strip and refit without rushing.
Now I have a new job and I can walk to work,I can afford to have it off the road for a few days, and use the TR when its not raining!! :) !

Yes Pilkie your interior is a good bit darker than mine so probably too much.

Think I'd like it more without the sills being a lighter shade of brown.
Don't think black would be good so body colour ?

Mexico  There are so many other colours! All the hours of removing, preparing, knocking back and getting panels straight. The piles of d.a. pads on the floor, the panel wipe cloths and then, bark the compressor up and out comes MEXICO BROWN!! Thats worse than a paint reaction :D

As with all things, its personal preference. I would paint a car avacado and actually like it, others hate that colour. I have had a load of Minis in russet and could not get rid of them quick enough. I had a real tidy, rocket of a Dolly sprint and each day I went off it more and more, becasue it was dark brown outside and light brown inside. The yellow, purple, orange, whites and green Dolly all played on my mind ... because mine was like a mars bar.

I dont remeber a lot about the 1970's, apart from holidays to Devon and the death of Elvis, but what I do know is that a lot of very moody fashions and colours were about, which do not sit too easily in 2010.

Why's that TP ? Are you too young or did you spend the 70's under the influence of various substances ?
What about the late 50's / early 60's for car colours when you have a Zodiac or Cresta in pink , yellow and/or various 2 tone combinations . You wouldn't do it on a mdern car but it looks so right for the period

As you say, it's personal preference. The car's the star, and if you love P6's having the colour to your own preference is the icing on the cake. Personally, I wouldn't go near Avocado or Paprika - but I wouldn't knock you for liking those colours. Or anybody else for liking Mexico.

I do remember the 70's...and earlier! 8)

Undoubtedly. I had a cameron green P6 and my mother loved it. My brown Sprint was loved to bits by my neighbour. I disliked both colours.

I do feel though that 1960s colours were superb. I love every BMC colour in the 1960's, dove grey, oew, tarten red, almond green, island blue etc etc. The range hits the 1970s and ouch!! Java green (snot), Sandglow (puke) and Russet (turd). To me it was a funny period.... fashion wise, hence choice of colours in cars, interior decor etc. Look at a mod in the 1960s with a decent tonic mohair on and a nice haircut, vs a long haired, bushy sideburned, kipper tie and bell bottom wearing bloke in the 1970s. There is not really a lot of comparison.

Plan is to drive to the sprayshop with (most of) the panels fitted then I'll strip them off there. Keep the cost down!

Dodging the showers today, the doors came off to clear out all the loose stuff...bit of scabbiness around the tread plates to sort out...

Apart from the OSR, the other 3 are in pretty good nick...and be even better with a good dose of waxoyl along with the wings...

Caramac Guy hadn't bothered to remove the door rubbers...so they need cleaning up!
