Occie gets her rear end up!

Congrats on the MOT Stan, my daughter had her Fiesta pass today and got the new style Mot, doesn't look very official does it.

:D Well done on the MOT Stan :D
Yes, those new MOTs don't look quite a official as the old ones. I suppose the bit of paper is almost a formality now that everyone can access details via the DVLA.

Excellent on the MOT Stan. The new certificates hardly seem worth it after all the work involved to get there. I think they could at least have some in colours, of have a gold star or something.

John.

Congrats on the MOT Stan.

Yes the new style certificates are a bit rubbish. Probably won't be too long before they do away with them altogether. In fact they should just let you log into the DVLA website and print your own if you want to. Test centre could simply issue a code that you enter for access.

Congrats! Job done! That looks like quite a good ratio front/rear, doesn't it?

Nice one Stan, always a nice feeling when you get that piece of paper, no matter how insignificant they have made it look now.

Richard

Thanks all...and yes, always gratifying to get that piece of paper...whatever the current version looks like.

So...from the WM I have 1306 kgs for the 3500S (including 5 gallons of fuel) plus a "guideline" addition of 140 kgs for "driver, fuel and tools" from the MOT Tester's Manual minus the (say) 25 kgs for fuel included in the WM kerbside figure = 1421 kgs gross test weight

Occie's total test braking force = 920 kgs, therefore service brake efficiency = 65% against a minimum pass figure of 50%.

Service brake split is 63% front v. 37% rear, which I reckon is about right.

Now...the :?: bit.

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_3100.htm

...which seems to suggest that vehicles with a single-line system first used after 1/1/68 should achieve 25% parking brake efficiency. Occie's test result was 330 kgs, which against 1421 kgs only equals 23%.

But hey...she passed! :D And I'm happy enough with 4 clicks to on...certainly wouldn't like to try pushing her down a slope with the brake on!

Cheers for now,

Hi Stan . well done , whatever piece of paper they give you , you don't need to worry about it for another year . Always a good feeling :D
When i said my parking brake was 170 % earlier i ment 170kgs  ( the numbers the tester showed me on his screen )
Any way , good time to pass mot , all summer to look forward to :D

Splendid news, Stan! Now to see if you can tell the difference! I nice run out in the country with a picnic on Sinday?

Hi Chris,

Much as I'd love a weekend run out, I chopped the Road Tax in last November so Occie's currently on SORN.

I'm away on holiday from the 16th to the 30th of this month...and me being such a tightwad :) , I won't tax her until 2nd April.

Did have a sneaky few miles from the MOT station yesterday evening though. Felt good!
