I just wish I could make the Rugeley show, but SWMBO has booked us on the Fastcat to France that weekend
It's your car dude, I don't care if you paint it in Man City colours, as long as you enjoy it
I think you will find that is the general feeling on this site, enjoying the car, but if info or advice is required, it's here.

whoa John, you have well overstepped the mark this time, paint the car in Man City colours !!!!!!!! thats not funny, United colours ok but not the others :D

Brook

The important thing about these cars is keeping them on the road......in whatever form.......for as long as we can. My own '72 3500S also started life with ambla seats and now has leather like yours......because I prefer leather (gotta love that smell :D ). I've also modified the centre console and put completely non-standard gaiters on both gearstick and handbrake. I use that car every day so reliability and ease of use and comfort are what I'm aiming for. I'm also fotunate to have a Series 1 which I intend to keep in as original condition as I can, purely because I love the clean lines of the S1.

Yes there are people who go to extremes to only find original parts for their P6 (and pay silly money for them  ) but more so there are many of us, just like you who want to make the car their own and add their own personal touches. You will find far more of the latter at an event such as the National Rally. We just love these cars and love to see different ones. I mean really.....how boring would it be if all our cars were identical? We'd have absolutely nothing to while away those long nights if we couldn't discuss how our cars differ from all the other ones.

It's nice to know what should be original for a particular car's age and model BUT that doesn't mean you then have to go out and change everything on your car to match.

Hi brook , as long as you enjoy your car and its how you want it thats all that matters, im the same as you i think its great when people change there car to how they want them, some guys on here are very keen to keep therees as they left the factory, thats fine for them each to there own, but some of us like to put in and update ours as we see fit,i personally like to see cars with that persaonal touch.
you just carrying on and enjoy these wonderfull cars, and Ian wilson sells the little sleaves you need and he may have some letters to
all the best and enjoy
