RP6C Anniversary Rally, Beamish Museum

Unfortunately I won't be able to get to Beamish

Hope the weekend goes brilliantly.

Post lots of pics when you get back.

Dave

We're already here - 330 miles later (stopped off at friends in Hull) we're in a hotel in the centre of Newcastle - going out for a Thai tonight :) yum yum

Vanessa is safely tucked up indoors in the hotel carpark - mind you, I need to pop down to see her soon, need to clean the windscreen. Looks like we killed the entire population of green fly on the way up - can hardly see out of it!!

See you all in the morning. Look out for me I'll have my Forum badge in the windscreen, so I'll be hard to miss.

Bri.

hi all, thanks for everybody that turned up and supported the event,it was a cracker of a day with 50 cars in total and 30 of them being p6s,there will be some photos put up soon, nice to meet some forum members at last and a canny set of lads, thanks again Bri :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just got home (650 mile round trip).

Superb show Gents. Wonderful people and cars.

I'll get some photos up tomorrow

Cheers all
Nick

What a great day out, and as you say Bri, it was nice to meet some of the people behind the avatars too!

Thanks to all those involved for organising it.

Nick, it was a surprise seeing you in the petrol station on the way home. We were nearly back by then and flagging but you still had an epic drive to go, hats off to you for your commitment.

All our thanks to Janet and the guys who organised the event for the club, an absolutely brilliant day out. If you missed it, you missed a good one! Thank you for making us all so welcome and if I missed speaking to anyone please accept my apologies, as I did try to get around to see everyone. We hope everyone got home safely.
We had a real special weekend and we are already looking forward to next years event
Warmest regards
Mark, the Editor & Angie, the Chairman

That's the only silly distance rally I'm doing this year - the last stretch from Grantham home was the longest. I had to make a big decision this year whether to do the Scottish Rally or support the Boys and go to Beamish - so Beamish it was.

The last stretch - Grantham to home, was the longest, I was quite convinced my mileometer was running slow - it wasn't!

Cheers
Nick

Just a few snapshots of yesterday's rally - full coverage to follow in 'Driving Force'.

My 2000 (DNY) next to WPG2G - a 1968 Three Thousand Five I owned for a few months in 2002. It didn't look like this when I owned it, that's for sure....a superb piece of work.

Presentations!

I reckon Angie's Chairman's Choice was spot on. This Copperleaf/Red leather 'A' suffix 1964 2000 is beautiful.

Special order colour scheme? Laminated front screen and heated rear windscreen in 1964? 35k miles....superb car!

Cheers
Nick

Pic #1 is what I'm hoping my driveway will look like one day.
That's a lot of really nice cars, love the red on red 2000. What colour is WPG2G? It looks a bit like the Damson 2000TC advertised on Trade me.

It's Bordeaux Red, the P5 colour. Very deep, almost appears black in some lights. Stunning piece of work!

Thanks Mark, you really know how to make a guy feel good about missing an event

My entry for the Annual Rally in Sep is in the post :D

My entry for the Uxbridge motor show is also in the post and I'll be doing the "Lazy Sat in the Garden" on the 17th too. With a stop off at relatives in Suffolk that'll be a round trip of just over 1000 miles

Great pics by the way. Lovely cars. Can't wait to get me a nice early Series 1 car.

Germinating in my mind at the moment is the idea of a early (Sharktooth grill) gathering in 2013 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Rover 2000, it's got to be done.

We're doing the two events 17/18th July. The Joint Rover Clubs initiative has got to be supported.

Alec's bash will be great too - should be a very good turn out.

Cheers

I echo everyone's comments - absolutely crackin' day out, and what a bunch of really friendly people too, which is nice to see (this was my first P6Club show). I've been to other events organised by other clubs/organisations which haven't been so accomodating!

here's a few pics from my album!

I rather liked Nick Dunning's elderly 2000 - had to take a some pics of the engine bay, quite different from the later cars

Nice tidy interior Nick, I can't make my mind up about mango though ...... but tidy all the same

Looks like Paul (testrider) and brip6rover here looking at Bri's rather tasty V8

If memory serves this is 2453kevinowen's 2000TC, he didn't manage to finish putting her together for Malvern, but did manage it for Beamish, after a 30 mile test drive he put his faith in his work and drove the hundreds of miles round trip to Beamish - fair play Kevin, and good to meet you at last :D (hope I got the right car!)

The Beamish museum was a superb place to visit too, including an old fashioned garage, even Pilkie's garage wont have room for this engine crane

Lots more photos, including those of the museum itself on my Photobucket Site

Just to add my congratulations and thanks to the Club, and especially the North-East team, for a wonderful day. Super venue and it was great to chat with such a friendly group...a canny craic indeed!

And the "photo-op" after we all drove up to the "town" was a great idea!
