stereo - getting hot

As good as it was, it lost a certain amount of detail once moving with the roof down. So I installed 2 small tweaters in the dash, you wouldn't really notice them at first sight, but they worked a treat by "bringing the sound forward" without fitting anything in the doors.

I mention this because you may be able to fit the bass speakers under the dash/seats, and then fit tweaters higher up facing the occupants to give you the detail.
We already have dashboard tweeters in the 2200 so I may try the centre console even though door speakers are a period feature. We'll still get the stereo from the rear speakers.

while i see where the point is with stereo sound left and right i must say that having a good speaker in the front and rear holes provided gave plenty of clarity and power and was ample enough for me that was of course until my cd unit blew! a problem i must investigate when i get time , i had the pleasure of insuring her today after having her for 3 wks and forgot what a bag of rocks the gearbox was it would seem the sounds are the least of my problems , anyway if you dont want to mess with the doors i say put a quality speaker front and rear its perfectly acceptable sound then again thats coming from someone with one crap station who play about one song an hour usually with a banjo cant wait to sort the cd unit!!!!

We've got the speakers in the V8 in the front/back configuration & there don't seem to be any problems regarding the sound/stereo but with the 4 speaker setup in the 2200 I'm going to keep it 2 front, 2 back.

If you've already got dash mounted tweaters, especially if they're at either end, they will give you the stereo seperation up front. It's an odd sensation, all you're doing is giving the brain an idea that the sound is coming from each side.

Its similar to the way sub-woofer audio systems work, you only have one sub which produces sound from both channels and then you have the two small satellites to give the stereo.

well went out to have a go at putting that cd unit back into the p6 and after changing fuses and fiddling around i see that the unit is with us no more !!so as i sat back in the drivers seat looking at the old original unit im thinking i might just go for a nice chromey period radio with fm instead for now i can always put a new cd unit into her later on in the summer so there i was back at "cheap but ill do you on the postage" e-bay looking for a suitable fm radio when i spotted a nice old p6 in the parts section i have emailed the owner to let me know if it doesnt sell as im not in a position to buy it at the moment but i thought id pass it on to you all its a 1976 v8 no tax or mot and no brakes currently at £99 as no bids its in wolverhamton with 4days to go and best of all its in the beautiful avocado green :D

You can now get little FM transmitters that you connect to MP3 players or Personal CD players, they transmit the signal and you tune you're FM radio into the signal, so you can use you're old stereo.
Have a look at maplin
and ebuyer

Have you tried one ? If it transmits a signal surely it has to get thro' the car bodywork to reach the aerial ? They did sell a device which did the same and plugged into the aerial socket

My daughter showed me her MP3 transmitting and playing through the FM on her car radio. She says it will even transmit to cars in your vicinity.

Yeap, often it will transmit from the car into your house ! It's only got to get through the glass.

I've had a similar thing for years, although they've only just made them legal, these new ones look really good.

I'm going to get one for the house, attach it to the main CD player and then listen on any radio in the house.
