The Bruiser.

Oh by the way usual disclaimer applies it is your responsibility to test on an inconspicuous area, if sticking to my advice in any way causes an undesired paint finish your right to inflict violence on my person is completely denied

& is that P5 really suspended from the roof by a piece of string?

Regards Colin

Well, I'll try it on a painted sample plate first. And no, the P5 is suspended from the engine hoist by a piece of string.

Got to be the best Rock song ever though surely Led Zepplin must have done the best rock song ever? Can't think of it just at the moment though.

'Nobody's fault but mine' springs to mind as well as the obvious, 'Stairway to Heaven.'

Bit too obvious I think. Maybe "Ramble On" or "Since I've been Loving you".

It looks quite mad in that picture

Well, it's a few weeks on & Bruiser certainly attracts a fair amount of attention & comment, including the "be nice when it's polished" quips. On the whole though, people admire the satin finish. Still to rebuild the brake system, I've got some Goodrich hoses & rear calipers with stainless bores fitted. The servo occasionally sucks in fluid so need a new one, though apparently you can fit any Girling cylinder from MG's...etc, to the P6 vacuum chamber. Would be a cheaper option than a complete Rover unit. Anyone any experience of this? I've removed the engine-driven fan & fitted 2 electric ones. A large puller inside & a smaller pusher outside. Together they cover most of the rad & though a little noisy, seem to do a good job of keeping the temperature even in traffic. On the move you don't need them of course. Fitted a stereo too though I don't use it most of the time & with the front removed the original Rover blanking plate still fits which is nice as I like the spartan/black look of the S1.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience so far.

Wow, i really shouldnt have viewed this page at all!

Congrats on all the hard work done so far, the car looks amazing.

I've just rekindled my love for the p6 after seeing my grandfathers abandoned one in his garage again ( been dry stored for the last twenty odd years! ) which was only left there as the engine stopped one day.

After uni i hope to get it going again back to its former glory days, but seeing this makes me want to satin black it up, just like i did to my mini, a side by side shot of them together would look awesome i'd imagine, rover too you know :D

What engine is in that Mini? I can see a late coper burr walnu dash. I assume it was a City, given rear windows not opening, or a Flame/Racing Green?

Its a city, with a 1.3 out a metro HLE, so its great on the motorways (im the mini in the fast lane haha). It was a bit slow so its had a stage one kit fitted, a 1.75" Carb, BDL fuel rich needle for a bit more ooomph. Worked pretty good :D
The gearbox blew a while back and so while out the engines been cleaned / painted, got a new cam and duplex timing chains and whatnot going back in :D Cant wait.

Its actually a fibreglass dashboard hidden in there:

Enough of my thread hijacking, maybe ill make my own project log? though its a p6 forum i'd feel bad!

Fair play. Im heavily into Minis, have a 1959 Super Deluxe, 1965 Mini Minor, 1965 Traveller, 1968 Cooper and a 1971 1275GT..... had every model bar a Mk1 S.

Thanks very much. I'm not really into Mini's but the satin, uncluttered look is pretty cool. As for them being Rovers, well, they didn't use to be & I can remember when the ebay Rover section didn't have Mini's in it & I think it should still be that way.
They should really have their own section.
