I've had my crank reground and fitted the correct size new main and big end bearings. It's all back together now and I've attempted to prime the oil pump by turning the oil pump drive clockwise through the distributor hole. I've used this method before very successfully but on this occasion it would not switch out the light (it's a series 1 so no gauge). The resistance certainly increased so I thought I was nearly there but no luck. So, I decided to removed the oil pump to check it out, pack it with vaseline and crank the engine with the King lead disconnected, but it still won't extinguish the light. Is this typical with a regrind or have I missed something?
