Very newbie :)

Well, it's been so long since I did any work on it, many of the more recent forum members won't have seen it, but I am told I have a 2 door coupe project in the garage, buried under all sorts of junk.

And a couple of links to the build....

Well guys, thank you for all the info. I'm guessing there are a few Richards here haha :)

I'll be updating you with my progress once I've found the right car. Yes I've seen the orange one before and I'm hoping to have something that resembles it but doesn't copy it. I want something original.

I'll mock up a photoshopnat some point soon and show u what I'm thinking :)

Haha, small world! Yes, it's me. Blimey sounds like you bought a sieve?! I really don't want a badly rotten one but I don't mind a little welding. Kinda used to it with the yanks and veedubs I deal with on a daily basis :-/

I have a very good friend who has been restoring these for decadesvso he won't let me buy a wreck, unless I really annoy him haha!!!

Thanks for the wings, don't suppose u have a decent set of fronts do u?!! Worth a shot.

Do you know the guy selling the Fibreglass bonnet and boot lid on eBay?

I'm going for a look something like this, but less racey and more classic and smooth....

Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have interesting plans, keep us all posted and happy hunting for the right starting point.
BTW I'm liking the side exit pipe on that magenta car in the pics, I hope it makes the antisocial V8 noise it looks like it should do.
Cheers,
Jon.

Jon,

It certainly did make a very antisocial noise haha :) it's my friends car and looks nothing like this anymore. It's being retuned to an original convertible and less 'max power'!

still looking for a good start point but so many of them are wrecks, I need a runner but people are asking bonkers money for them. I pay less for my Americans than one of these in working order :x

I've thought of black but black hides lines, so it would just end up looking like a bathtub with chrome wheels. Not the look I'm after. Plus almost every customer I have with an American car wants black. I am very tired of black!!

Which colour you like ? :?

Rudiger

Of the original colours I'm only really like Atlantis blue but I'm not going to paint it that colour. It'll be an orange or a bronze colour. :)

Thanks a lot Gaz, better late than never!

The search isn't going well, I think some people think these cars are worth a fortune when they're clearly not. I just wish I could find a decent base unit with reliable well cared for mechanicals. That's all I'm after. Panels don't matter, interior doesn't matter. But, nooooooooo, that carries a £2k price tag apparently!!!

I'll get there, got a couple to see next week sometime, just hope the right car finds me :)

Unfortunately that is becoming the going rate for a P6 (I say unfortunately but a lot of people would applaud it), base unit and to a lesser extent mechanicals are pretty key to a P6, body work is easy to sort / swap, so all the value is in the base unit. Lots of demand for good base units drives the price up.

You may have to resign yourself to a weldathon on a rotten base unit, but maybe with half decent panels.

Well thanks for the info! I can't believe they're becoming such a lot of money. I'm restricted to £1200 for my prospective purchase and I'm hoping I can find a decent runner for that.

I may be hoping a little too much though

You should get one for that, but you may just have to wait a bit longer. I remember when I was turning away at least one free one every month
