Fitting leather seats from another marque

It seems that getting hold of seats is not that easy after all, as despite putting a mention on here & on the facebook page mentioned, no-one has come forward with anything. To be honest, I get the distinct impression that whilst there are some very open & helpful people in the P6 fraternity...

Fitting leather seats from another marque

PeterZRH, I have seen some flat pleat seat for sale on ebay, not sure if they are Buckskin, but they are light in colour, but listed as Box Pleat! They have been through at least once with no bids, might be worth a look. I did post some pictures on my "project page" for PDT389L, but the drivers...

    Looking for drivers seat.

I am looking for a drivers seat for my 1972 3500s, in Black flat pleat, suitable for inertia seat belts, the rest of the seats are salvageable, but would consider buying a complete set. Thanks in advance.

Fitting leather seats from another marque

Thanks for the offer Willy, but I really need a whole drivers seat, unless you've got one stashed away somewhere. Redrover, I'll look at some pictures of 800 seats, if they are anything like the 75 seats, then they are at least similar in design to what is already there, except the pleats look...

Fitting leather seats from another marque

BTW. Redrover, do the 800 seats have a similar design to ours, or are they totally different? as I would consider them if they are similar. Cheers

Fitting leather seats from another marque

Thanks guys, it's not that I do not like the originals, on the contrary, I would prefer those. I have tried bidding on some, without success, they seem to be in great demand, even quite ratty ones. The passenger seat is repairable, as it is only the stitching that's gone, but the drivers seat...

Fitting leather seats from another marque

I've mentioned in the past that I'm looking for some new seats for my Rover, in particular the front two seats. What seats from other marques would fit? I have seen some from an MGF for sale, which look similar, would they fit without too much buggering about (I need the car for work every day...

    Tacho reading high.

It is weird & a bit annoying, especially when I want to give it some welly & the tacho goes off the scale  I just have to go by the engine tone when deciding to change gear.

    Tacho reading high.

Thanks for the idea Darth, just went outside to check, & unfortunately it is the V8 one fitted.

BTW your car looks a cracker!

    Tacho reading high.

And of course my tacho is RVI ! it looks identical to your one. I checked it out on the way to work this morning & I'm getting a reading of approx 3100 rpm at 40 mph. I will check out the link & see what that says. My previous 3500s had Lumenition fitted, it was also a 1972 model, & it had no...

    Tacho reading high.

Thanks for that detailed reply Phil, I will check to see what type I have fitted. I too have electronic ignition, would this also affect the reading? if so, at least I know how to adjust it, I know that Ron (sydneyrover) has put up a list of what readings to expect at certain speeds, so I can...

    Tacho reading high.

The tacho on my 1972 3500s has been reading high ever since I bought it, I remember being a bit worried that at 50-60mph, the tacho was showing around 4500rpm. This seemed odd, but it kept me from going too fast I guess! I knew from my previous "s" that this was not normal though. Any ideas as...

    A slightly different intake option

Thanks for the video of the Pontiac Tokyo, beautiful car & sounded awesome even at tickover. It set me off at a tangent, watching vids of American muscle cars, lost track of time & nearly left for work late!

    Straight tailpipe?

That's what I did recently, replaced the rear silencer (which had a hole in anyway) with a piece of 76mm stainless with a reducer to fit onto the original pipe, looks & sounds lovely. Just like a yank V8. I got the pipe off ebay & the reducer, plus a couple of clamps, didn't cost very much &...

    My mean green hornet

No worries Mr. Corazon, look forward to hearing it when its done! Like the steering wheel, looks far better with the Rover centre cap than the Chevy one.

    What is a 'Classic Rover'

SD1 definitely, to drop the V8 & still call it a Rover? I don't think so. I know the earlier Rovers didn't have a V8, but during my formative years, the only Rovers I was aware of were the P5, P6 & SD1, all of which did have the old burbler & without which they would have lost much of their appeal.

    Eastenders

Yeah, it was a damn shame they chose what looked like a nice P6 to wreck, when it would've been better & more appropriate to use some poxy old Dagenham Dustbin for the stunt. The programme is still crap anyway!

    Monza Red

Thanks for that tam, yours looks great in the photos, maybe it was the same person (Stevie Wonder?) who painted both our cars, as mine also has a few runs & sags. They didn't even bother to remove the trim, door handles etc. before spraying  Caught a glimpse of Eastenders last night (The...

    Monza Red

Dammit, that would explain it then! The car will need a full respray at some point anyway. I just wanted to keep it looking decent in the meantime, without great expense.

    Monza Red

Cheers Tam, it does look like mine in the photo, so if you could find the code, it would be mighty useful.

    Monza Red

I recently had my front n/s wing damaged beyond repair (errant lorry driver while car was parked, not me!). I have now replaced the panel & went to my local bodyshop, where they do a paint matching service, asking for Monza Red. I knew that there were two Monza Reds, so asked for the "brighter"...

    Removing middle silencer

Well, get a better camera then!!

    Removing middle silencer

I'm not removing the middle one now, I was having a look earlier at the rear one & measuring up, even used a bit of old school maths to find out the diameter of the pipe after measuring the circumference. I then noticed that a hole had developed under the tailpipe, so that was it, the decision...

    My mean green hornet

Have you got your toyo's fitted yet, I'm sure that I am not alone in wanting to hear what they sound like, & after seeing them fitted to that awesome, wicked sounding series one on ebay, I definitely want a set for my 3500S. So come on, stop polishing & get fitting
