Consider myself told then
To give credit where it's due, I have been in there on deliveries, for motorcycle tyres and had moderns setup with no problems. Never seen anything but moderns being worked on is all.
No harm in being the voice of reason Chris.
CERTAINLY no plans on retrfitting a mcpherson strut. Would prefer to work with what is there or use an IFS (i.e jag, mustang II) but IFS is certainly pie in the sky at the minute. I have no issues with losing some suspension travel, there is...
Who are you refering to in Bristol, Chris? Only place I know with that sort of setup is protyre and TBH I'm not sure if some of the yoofs in there ought to be let loose on older/classic stuff...
I've got a couple of ideas, I have read what you are suggesting in some other threads. Also wondering about cutting some of the section out of the vertical arm and sleeving it so it will achieve the drop in height that way. I have no doubt that it will upset the camber but then so will cutting...
As per title, don't mind either. Initially for redrilling to use difference stud sizes and a slightly different stud pattern but the strut would be useful for a cutting and shutting experiment to lower the car.
For a '70 3500 (not sure if there are differences?)
Am in Bristol but will travel a...
I'm no good with photoshop, but I wonder how those lights would look frenched in?
Nice project, saw this one on youtube also (and lusted after the moon discs  ). Will keep an eye on this to see how it shapes up. 8)
Would also be interested to see one live axle'd and how it is mounted.
Bit of a cheeky pic request this  :D - was just googling images and came across these two...are there many examples that have had the same rear arch treatment or is it a race use only type affair?
I am smitten with this one....any more info?
Duly noted.
Why oh why didn't they go ahead and do it?!
Any idea on which year the later serpentine engines started? Or is it really as simple as finding a 3.5 efi setup where the engine is concerned? (Seen a few listings on the 'bay).
Cheers :D
about going efi on my 3.5 or swapping out for a larger efi unit?
I appreciate that I may get jumped on for this but I'd be happier with efi under my bonnet than the existing edelbrock and 390 combo. There is nothing wrong with the engine (It's been well looked after and has sd1 heads, mallory...
Aha! Nice one :D , found a few now - but will I be able to wire them to my sender or will I have to use theirs and adapt to fit? (1/8") sender seems most common.
Looking for an aftermarket but period looking water temp gauge without much success - I don't really want to fit a jap tuner - type multicolour item.
Please could someone point me to where I can get one?
Interesting to see different angles at tackling the same area.
Heater - now THAT's something that I'll have to tackle soon - being as I have never had an old car with one that works.
Chris, where in Bristol recores rads?
I'm curious to know, has anyone swapped out their belt driven fan for an electric setup and if so have they used an aftermarket kit or pilfered an OE setup from anywhere else with good results?
Hi All
Joined a couple of years ago but alas my encounter with P6 ownership was very brief.
Back now for the second round after picking up A GREAT daily usable rolling project, full of spares AND a Mondeo Estate full of spares too.
Will get pics up when its light and not raining but in...
Mines stopped performing its duties and a very interesting discussion with a helpful chap revealed that I can source a replacement from a number of other vehicles. I dont have enough hours in the day to get around the scrappies, so tell me - what can other cars can i nab one from - what have you...
I remember reading an article on Rover V8's in street machine or custom car, but it was donkeys yrs ago (I think I may have been about 11 and the mag was from '79 or '80). Am I correct in my belief that the engines I.D is its compression ratio, and where on my engine would I find it? I just want...
What would cause the car to not start in P?
Also the kickdown doesnt work, and its generally a little bangy and snatchy on change up/down. Anyone had their boxes recon'd? Pricey exercise?
mightily informative site, that
All I need to know is the width & offset of my std wheels - the rest of the calculating is easy.
Chris, I've re-read you post and am I correct in thinking that you have within your means the ability to source/supply different suspension components for the...
What is the width & offset of the std p6 wheels?
Had another look at the way they sit in the arches and reckon that another 2" can be had in wheel width, as long as the offset is reduced accordingly (so the extra width moves outwards not inwards), additionally running on lower profil tyres...
This is more of a gripe than a question - I'm terrible for oversleeping and simply don't have time to wait for the heater to not do much at all  , has the rover become my new alarm clock?
On a serious note, is this just the way they are? Is there anything that can be or has anyone modded...
Interesting points, are adjustables available still?
As for the wheel/tyre issue, maybe this will be of help to some?
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Used a lot in other forums if changing wheels to help work out arch clearances as well as speedo deviances and differences in rolling...
Ah, lumenition - forgot about them, have seen a dax cobra running a V8 on them. Deffo worth a look.
JP6, £374 IS expensive, for a little more you could run a fuel/ignition stand alone system!
Called a firm after seeing their ad in retro ford (I also have a mk2 cortina 1600e ??? ) I called...
