1st car

That would have been a classic - two old barges drag racing up Muswell Hill :D

I am helping my mate with his 73 Lincoln - we are pulling the engine on the 17th - I'll get some photos of it for you see if it brings back any memories. They're not as easy to find as they once were - I had a 77 Lincoln Continental Town Car that I just left by the side of the road and forgot about - another decision I regret. I'll keep an eye out and let you know.

  Its funny how times change, many years ago these cars were considered quite large (barges is a good descriptor) and even p6 were a good sized family saloon however as another thread has shown P6's are quite dimmunitive by todays standards, havent done it yet but it would be interesting to compare some of the early American tin with todays standard saloons such as larger Mercs and Beemers and so forth evn that Skoda looked real huge compared to the p6!!

You might be right Graeme - maybe compared to today's motors these aren't the behemoths they once seemed. Compared to the P6 they were, and still are massive, and I always remember Rovers being considered "big" cars. I must see how my mate's '73 Lincoln compares to my daily driver, a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria; I have a feeling that the Lincoln might not be as big as remembered...

What is interesting is that the 460 CID engine is quoted as having only 219 HP and weighs in at 4570 lbs (2073 kg). IIRC, my NADA with a 215 CID engine is punching out 185 HP and weighs in at a mere 2860 lbs (1298 kg).

love that cresta.
:D It was a good car, but money got tight so it had to go, it was a 3.3, with snow tyres still fitted. I smile every now and then when I see it pop up on Ebay. :D

1. Volkswagen Beetle 1996, red
2. Peugeot 504 GL, white
3. Renault 16TX (a very brief while)
4. Nissan 100NX
5. Rover P6 DL-87-71
6. Fiat Barchetta
7. New Mini
8. Citroen XM
9. Jaguar X300 (current)

WIth an unrestorable P6 in between which didn't drive and was sold for parts. Now on the look-out for another P6

Gosh! What is KSL 975? Looks vaguely Lea Francis?

Chris
Its a Renault star 4, left hand drive, I sold it for !000 pounds, The man who bought it from me sold it for 2000 pounds, then that chap sold it for around 15000, all within 2 weeks, I was gutted, it went back to France :(

Oh dear! That's an old fashioned case of know your market isn't it. The wheels are sort of reminiscent of early post war Ford. Didn't at least one French manufacturer do versions of Ford cars early post war? Was that Renault?
