Calling all Scottish forum members

Have a road run with my local club on 16th so unfortunately i won't be able to make it this time cheers Tam

Probably not going to be a goer this Sunday if there is only two of us.

What might be an idea is to post up dates we are available to see if we can get a better date.

Colin

Can manage the next weekend either 22nd or 23rd? Running out of time as i can't decide weather to tax for another six months or strip some panels of to check underneath. Hopefully nothing major lurking but you never know!.

Hi,

Just thought I'd say hello, I joined the forum today and I'm based in Glasgow.

I'm afraid my 3500s won't be making any outings soon until it grows some body panels and a registration number.

Brian

Things are a bit up in the air as regards getting weekends off at the moment, for me, so whatever suits everyone else, I'll try to work around! :D

I was thinking about this today.

What about the Summer lee in coatbridge they have the cafe, trams and some things also a few things to keep the wife and kids occupied. I am sure we could get in to the area near the tramline if there is only a few of us.

Does anyone lay their car up for the winter? I will be free most weekends and the odd weekday but weekends are best for me.

Colin

Yeah the tax on my car runs out at the end of this month so i think I'll lay up for the winter and check under some panels!!

Great so that gives up the 22nd/23rd or the 29th and 30th.

How are the rest of you guys fixed?

You can always re tax the car and then cash it in for the remainder.

Hi,

I am sadly no longer a rover owner :( , although it was our family car and I learnt to drive/1st car a Rover TC2000 (1964).
We ended up giving the car for free to a Rover restorer in Australia just because we could no longer do or afford the work needed for the car.

I was wondering if there would be any Rover drivers out there who would be interested in helping me out.... I would love a Rover as our wedding car next year (August 17). Anyone interested in getting me from A to B in Glasgow? and we could get a photographer to take some photos of the car for you too? It would mean a lot to me and I'm sure other rover enthusiasts would understand.

Thanks all.

Angie

There is quite a few Rovers in the Glasgow area depending what you are looking for.

if you send me an email of the details and what car/colour etc you are looking for I can ask about.

Hi Angie

Was that first car an Australian export then? It won't take long for one of our resident historians to come up with the details of when these cars were first exported and in what version, but the 2000TC was not launched until late 1966 so your car was probably a single carb version. Anyway apologies for being such a pedant and I'm sure someone will be along to correct something I've said later. Best way to learn sometimes is to make a statement that you think is correct and then wait for it to be corrected....well it works for me.....

As Colin has said there are a few very nice P6s in your area so hopefully you'll find something for next year.

Dave

I think it may not have been a uk car s it was written TC 2000?

Maybe a good day out for Charlotte dave.

Colin

Wow - thank you Colin & Dave! Fantastic! (I'll send you and email shortly)

Although - yes - I was caught out.

I had my year wrong. After speaking to my parents they have corrected me on the year.
It was a 1968 Rover 2000TC with factory fitted splinned wire wheels. We believe the car was made in England, although we did buy it from someone somewhere in Australia (I don't know that bit). And yep, it was a single carb. * Correction - sorry my parents have corrected me again.... it was a TC (Twin Carb) * You definitely know your rovers!

The Monte Carlo Historique rally leaves from Glasgow on the 29th of January, and I was wondering if any other P6 owners are hoping to go? I will be there, most likely in the P6, but possibly in the 75. Any forum members thinking of going?

Anybody going to The Moffat Rally this year?

Yep, I've gone the past couple of years with the Borders Vintage Auto Club and will be there again this year.
