Custom Anti Roll Bar- Cheap opportunity!

Good luck with getting things sorted, Graeme....depends how much is "slightly" northwards of £100, I guess.

Must admit to a certain level of disappointment, given the generally positive responses at the start of this thread, in the low uptake of the bar/supplier I sourced.

As you say though, may well be life in the old dog yet! :)

For such a simple upgrade the benefits are large and if the costs are low and well defined then to my mind it becomes a must do thing, essentially the cost of a tank of gas which runs out very quickly whilst the ARB for the same money is there for the driving life of the car.

I'm sure I'll be shot down in flames, but this seems to me to be a very easy and cheap upgrade without all the buggering about trying to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear .

mmmmmm no

So this would be a straight fitment? Count me in. I have a lot less lurch now but this will help some more.

The cheapest way to do this is machine one using a Pug 306 rear ABR as a "doner". The one in an HDI is approx 24mm. The machining is very straight forward, there are pics on our blog.

That sounds a very good idea Tim. I have been looking for a donor ARB for some time and not hit upon this one. I'll get one and see how it pans out.

Is there and indication of numbers? Perhaps if you could post your requirement, I suspect it could turn out to be quite a large number. Happy to arrange the NZ bar as I think from looking at mine it appears to be a well constructed beast.

Graeme

So can I buy a UK bar today? I'm inclined to a 22mm bar with the HD rear springs but I'm willing to be swayed (haha) on something larger. I'm not after GTi handling, just a bit more control and stability in roundabouts. I also don't want to sacrifice the magic carpet ride.

total price depends on numbers, the more bars I can order the lower the bar cost and probably a better freight rate. I would hope that 150 would include freight but at this stage it is a bit of a guess with out a nailed down bar cost.

Graeme

Part of me really wants to be a passenger in 24mm car first... But for £150 and an hour or two of my time, I don't consider it a risk.

I'd happily front a bit of cash if someone would sell these on a non-profit basis because it seems like a total no-brainer upgrade to me but I'm thinking there might be all sorts of legal issues effectively becoming a supplier of safety-related components. For example if there was a failure and it was considered contributory to an accident.
