Daily driver - now time for a freshen up

I've now put a couple of hundred miles on the Rover and so thought I'd write an update of how I'm getting on.

Initially, I had a miss fire, with it refusing to run on all 4 cylinders. This turned out to be a slightly loose plug, meaning reduced compression on one cylinder a film of oil between the plug and the head which insulated the plug. Cleaning the plugs and refitting them seems to have largely solved this, though it still fires on three initially, before picking up the 4th fairly quickly. Maybe I need to clean the fouled one a bit more thoroughly. Looking at the plugs, I've possibly got the mixture a little weak. There's a fine tan coloured deposit on the curved electrode, but the centre electrode and insulator have next to no deposit look a little whiter. The car was running well, without pinking, but I don't want to burn out the exhaust valves so I've richened the mixture ever so slightly. I'll do a few more miles and check again.

I think I'll need to invest in some new dampers fairly soon. The rides a bit bouncy and the rebound feels uncontrolled. There's also a lot of knocking coming from the back end over small bumps and rough road surfaces. Looking at others' experiences on here, I'm guessing the rear dampers have no bushes left. Currently, I'm favouring buying Spax adjustables from JR Wadhams because they seem to be the best price. Got to save up some beer tokens first though, so things could have changed by the time I'm in a position to buy.

Other than that, I'm just enjoying being back on the road 8)

Get the Gaz adjustables from Gaz.
60 quid each and IMO better than the Spaz!
