It certainly would be a tad heavier than the original engine, maybe some suspensional jiggery-pokery would sort that.

Oh, I see the fitted front suspension is Jaguar too. I assume this would improve matters to some extent?

Modified suspension will take the weight,but the overall weight distribution will be out of kilter!
A small 4 pot Fiat twincam would of been a better choice,revvy,lighter,no butchery to the firewall or suspension!

Yes, I can see a smaller, revvier engine might suit the car more. Still, it does look nice & not as large as you might suspect & maybe the greater weight is an advantage for hill-climbing/sprints as the advert suggests. I wouldn't mind a spell behind the wheel regardless.

If you are really prepared to give me the TF and £18k in exchange for the MGC then you have a deal! Or have I read your reply wrong?

I asked about the TF because I showed it to a mate of mine and he went weak at the knees and wanted to know the price. I suspect that with shipping, registration etc then brining it out to Abu Dhabi will mean that it's too much for him but I'll pass the details on.

By the way, I saw a lovely BRG MGTD on town a couple of days back. It looked splendid and I got a photo which I'll post up (if my phone will ever connect to a PC).

PS: if you can creep the offer up a bit, the MGC is still up for grabs

Cant buy anything till the TF is sold,but the MGC is on the list of possible next projects,as iirc by what you told me before and the pics,it shouldnt take much to sort it out!!

No idea about shipping costs,but can find out.
All countries differ on taxes and registration process.

I do have an ex USA Mk1 MGA roadster on my radar,in similar cond as the TF was but complete with running engine and matching numbers!

Dave, I mentioned the asking price to my mate and he went pale! I don't think that he appreciates just what these things are worth.

Maybe he needs to hunt down a Gentry or Hutson replica?
But then they are even rarer than the real thing,and still can be £10-20k for a well sorted one!!
Or a cheaper lookee likee for £5k based on a Herald chassis!!

Hi all.
Well ive sorted out the running niggles,and the car is now advertised for sale.
Just got a few more tonneau fixing to fit,then go round it with a beady eye and tidy up any things I think need it.
Also try to get my painter to do the final mop over asap.
I did a first drive videoclip,but it came out bad,so got to do it again when the weathers ok.
Meanwhile I did a quick walkround video.

With luck a new project will turn up just after ive sold it, :) ,as ive already missed out on 2 good ones! :cry:
