well been to my last car show of the year got a wedding now the 5 october and that will be the last time mth will a run till all the jobs are sorting dont know if it will be going to any shows next year got a list of jobs dont know were to start
myself i dont believe in laying them up... I'm pretty sure it makes them more unreliable...
I'd just make a list and go through the jobs one at a time. might take a few months but it'll get there. Is it a mountain or a series of steps too climb...
Wise words Mr R/D, I agree with the laying up possibly causing problems. Ok if their is salt etc on the road and you can avoid using your car fine, otherwise use it and just give a good wash underneath when salt is around.
well its not going to get prober layed up still going to be tax and mot and insured just not going to do much miles
the jobs to be doing is the
cam shaft kit
rear rope seal
di dion tube
re bush the rear suspenion
welding at the front
vinyl the roof
repaint the 4 doors and replace the front wings all going to be back to bare metal
paint up the valances and bonnet
replace the engine mounts
no dont think there is nothing that i am worried about mind you if i get problems will be asking on here
yea with work and daughter is just getting the time also got another baby on the way so will take its time
It's not such a bad list. If you get stuck in you'll be halfway there before you know it and all finished by next spring  .
With the exception of the welding & painting, most of those jobs you could maybe do on a weekend.
While you are going that far,it would be better to repaint the whole car,as you may not get a perfect match for any panels you have not painted!
For best results have the panels painted off the car!
If you have a mate who paints, give him 2 or 3 each week, and fit them as they come back!
Good advice.
Also means its much easier to prep, and, like your welder mate, the painter can just go straight into it if you sort and prep all the panels prior.
One thing I have found to be invaluable is the use of "Frog tape" to mask off...no paint bleed and less likely to remove any paint from under itself.
thanks guys yea thats wot i will be doing cut it all out so it will be ready for him the problem i got with painting the panels now is my friend who does the painting can no longer paint with health problems so will have to try and do it my self i got a small compressor but wont be any good for the doors and wings but have been told i can borrow a bigger 1 so we will see about that. yea i will be putting mth back in the garage and taking the panels off and bringing them home to spray but can only do them in my garden when the weather is nice as got no where else to do them as my garage has no electric and is 5 miles down the road.
well it look my friend has got a spare set of rear bottom arms so i will be fitting new bushes to them and painting them up ready for mth he is not to sure if he has got a rear crossmember if so i will do the same to that if not will redo mth member cant wait to get started now
well found out the arm my friend had is a 2000 type which is no good but how ever i just bought a brand new LH rear bottom arm (from wins) as mth has a big dent underneath looks like some 1 in the past has jacked it up on there so once i get that fit the new bushes and then a coat of paint
well between not getting soaked i have now undone the outer bushes on the rear cross member which was a pig to do and almost undone the centre diff bolt which has now seized so will need a good soaking in oil ans starting again soon then its just the back on the rear arms to do
well have got he bolt out after the only way was to cut it in half job done so its all be dropped and taken off mth so hopfully will get the bushes out 2 moz and get news 1 fitted then will be giving the arms and cross member a coat of paint b4 they go back on
