PAE .... Sleipnir???

Hi mark,

Thanks - I wondered where the card was. I've mailed them back and will give them a call later. Hopefully i can just get it from the APC depot :)

Hi guys,

Well I've finally got round to trying to pu the front wing back on. As usual nothing is straightforward. I'm finding it really difficult to get enough gap between the front door and the front wing. I've elongated the holes at the front of the wing to get it this good.

Some pics of the wing and the panel gaps.

Someone suggested putting shims on the door but i can't get the screws on the fronts of the doors to move....

Any ideas?

THanks,

you could drill the heads off and get a replacement.

If you lift the door off you may be able to get the hinge on the door or the body off, a really good bit on an impact driver.

Is that rear wing gap more a case of the rear wing needing to be adjusted? The leading edge of the wing is quite a bit behind the leading edge of the quarter panel? It must be easier to adjust the wings, front and rear, to match the doors than vice versa. I'll probably have the same fun when I get to the stage of refitting panels. That's a looooooong way off though :D

Hi guys thanks for the suggestions... I was led to believe that it was worth playing with the gaps on the door to give more leeway in positioning the wing. It's been suggested that i need to push the wing up at the front too if that makes sense?

I'll take the door off rather than trying to do it on the car i think. You cant get a straight run at the screws for a start....

Thanks :) some help was needed to get the panels sorted and once that was sorted it was all stuff I could tackle..

Taking the head off to find whats causing the tapping/poor running...

At least it looks pretty clean in there?

Well the day before christmas i went to go out in the car, and ( fortuitously ) checked the fluids... The brake fluid reservoir was completely empty. Not 100% sure yet but i think the pipe under the reservoir had given way. Is there anything funny to look out for (another component failure that can cause this to happen) or is it just a straight forward case of replacement?

THanks

Rich.

Hi Rich,

if the fluid disappears with the car stationary, then perhaps it is escaping from the rear calipers.
Hopefully this time it is only the pipe from the fluid reservoir.

There is shiny fluid to clean off all around that area. Christmas eve so no time on the day... Guessing I'm going to need to get the rattle cans out given brake fluids' reputation as an excellent paint stripper :)

When I was completing my restoration project I just used a short length of flexible hose that I found in the garage to join the fluid reservoir to the brake master cylinder. After a few months I noticed the fluid level was dropping and the hose appeared 'sweaty'. Not all hose is suitable for brake fluid. I had to swap out the short length of what turned out to be fuel line for some flexible hose which wouldn't get dissolved by the brake fluid. Hope it's as simple as that for you Mr Rockdemon.

Well in the broad light of day the fluid appears to be atf I've spilt... There's no sign of a leak from the fluid reservoir, nothing in the servo, nothing from the front callipers so I'm guessing it's the rear callipers. I've filled the reservoir to see if it goes down again but fluid was still at the same level after pumping it for a couple of minutes. Going to monitor it but I'm guessing this is likely to be a rear calliper job...

I do have a diff procured a while back with the intention of curing the wobble and the unstoppable dribble from the from of the diff extension. The callipers on there are meant to be good but I guess an inspection of that is probably the next step. I wonder how much it'd cost for someone to fit it for me? It's a big dirty job for me on the drive otherwise.

Rich.

I have had mysterious fluid loss, the res hose and rear calipers are faves but also the servo and master cylinder like to hide it.

If the calipers are where it is going just losen the covers or gently prise he dust seal andnsee if there is anything there.

My last failure was the master clyinder which had been leaking in to the pedal box but not the carpet.

Good luck.
