Right, better go and fit the bl&^%$*& fan belt properly

I note the SD1 front cover on there, with the hi volume oil pump, and an electric fuel pump hidden away somewhere else obviously.

The bloke I bought it from had bought a brand new 4L, cross bolted, stage one engine from RPI and only done 5,000 miles in it before selling it to me. I have the bills for £6.5K for just the engine bits

The fuel pump is under the back seat - outdoors. Will be sorting that when I get the chance.

Great photos, keep 'em coming. Next time I'm in the garage I'll take a shot of the wiper motor for the purpose of comparison.

Hi Warren

For comparison these guys need a photo of the drivers side bulkhead with the PAS steering box in place to illustrate the loss of space in that area. It will then be clear why the revised wiper set up is required!

Chris

In that case we need somebody to shoot the driver's side of their PAS car and post the pic. Anybody got a PAS car and a camera within reach?

In an attempt to offset the V8 Rover's carbon emissions, Hermione149 is also using his as a compost bin and avidly recycling all his garden waste.

Actually, on the strength of that photo I'm going to have to poke around a little more under GF148's bonnet to see exactly how the wiper mechanism is affected.

Cheers fellas.

Apart from the rust, is it dead leaves that seems to fill this photograph?

Yeah,...cherry tree and non poisonous spider webs

 when i first got the car in was already a rubbish bin, i 've spent weeks welding the base unit but 4 years ago my health took a downturn which left me unable to finish it, (i caught Weils Disease and it left me with Type 1 diabetes and its complications )

That's an unfortunate story, Hermione. I hope the health is up to scratch these days. In my case, I caught a family, which has prevented GF148 from receiving any attention for 7 years. However now that I've chucked the job (which in latter times was possibly almost as damaging to the health as Weil's Disease) I've been really enjoying the opportunity to put a little time into the car. There were many occasions over the last few years when I seriously contemplated selling it, but I'm glad I couldn't bring myself to do it. There's something very special about a P6 Rover, and I'm even now surprised by the amount of affection with which they're regarded.

For me, converting GF148 to PAS just about cancels out any benefit of a modern car. I haven't missed the company car at all - although I have missed the little plastic card that acquired petrol at no cost to me...

Hi Warren, you are quite welcome to check out my cars pas setup (and there is no rust to contend with lol).
Hmm I need one of those little plastic cards as well.

Graeme

All P6Bs should come with a little plastic card. That way unemployed bums could still afford to drive them.

Cheers for the offer Graeme, it'd be nice to catch up. Ben's car also has PAS but the engine bay is very much in a dismantled state so its value as an example is very limited. However I know where all his bits are, so maybe if he's not looking...

Sorry, hermione 149 I did not intend to take a swipe at you over the dead leaves. Actually I do not mind deciduous trees. The native trees here in NZ are almost all evergreen. This is OK in summer when you want shelter from the hot sun,but in winter they are still green and make your house cold as charity. I had to cut down two of them for this reason. I now have deciduous tees, thanks to our English, Scottish Irish forbears.

And you're in the North Island, Classicus. Spare a thought for us Southerners when we're in the grip of a bitter winter, surrounded by snow-covered evergreen trees. That's when you notice that the P6's heater isn't quite up to the standard of a modern car.

But all this is getting off-topic.

Heater?.........in a P6?....where do you get one of those! I recond my heater box a couplke of years ago due to a minor leak in the core, got rid of my steamy window but never seemed to find any heat lol, I would hate to think what the air con unit does.

Graeme

Oddly enough the heater box fitted to Air Con cars (the factory variety, not aftermarket as you are motre likely to find in NZ) has both a larger heater matrix and a much better fan as well as the obvious freon matrix for the A/C. It is therefore a much more satisfactory experience all round if you can figure out how to drive it and all the vacuum servos are working properly....
