I did ask the machine shop about welding it up, apparently the weld would be too hard to drill and tap to take the stud. I did suggest putting a bolt through instead but my mechanic friend told me off and said I had to do the job properly - point taken!!

At last heads off. Looks like the blown gasket was caused by loose head bolts on one side. The heads have been cleaned and are waiting to go off to the local machine shop to be skimmed and valves checked over. The maniforlds also need a bit of repair as the studs have snapped off or have bodged...

Well decision made, i'm going for a light grey carpet, with a darker grey for the overmats which will have a light grey binding to match the main carpets. Order is going in today with about 4 week delivery so watch this space!!

Looks like i've got more jobs to do then, find out what the box is, try and fit the speedo cable and look out for a trim label somewhere. That might be the first job, I need to get the carpet out to get rid of the damp, musty smell and dry the floor out before the rust sets in.
