    No fuel to carburettors

Don't know if it's a common problem but my "76 SC had an electric pump fitted when I got it and mechanical pump removed and blanked off. Works well. Tony.

    Blonde Moment

Having got the engine running well on my '76 2200 SC now having replaced the mains and big ends, I thought I'd do a bit of tidying up under the bonnet. The windscreen washers had been electrically disconnected ( wires cut off ) On further inspection I found the washer bottle had a hole in its...

Well, replaced the mains today. Many thanks Redrover and others for your advice. The only serious problem is that New Zealand lollypop sticks appear to be metric, I had to grind mine down as it was a bit too thick. Seriously though, things went as Redrover and others said they would...

I've finally found some main bearing shells, they arrived today from Thorntons and hopefully I'll fit them this weekend. By reading the blog I understand that to loosen the bottom chain I must screw in the allen screw to release the tensioner but I'm not sure how to put the tension back after...

    Parts Availability.

This subject may have been previously discussed but being relatively new on here I've yet to see anything. Being at the bottom of the world, P6 parts are practically like rocking horse poo to obtain here. It seems the only reliable suppliers are in the UK. I've used Wadhams but I'm running out...

    2200 tc not running right

Blocked fuel filter or gunged up fuel lines ? Try disconnecting fuel line at carb, have someone to look and wind motor over. Plenty of petrol coming out ? Cheers and good luck Tony.

Thanks Michael, Running fresh 5 litres of 20/50 oil and I did replace the O ring while I had the bottom apart.I'll have a listen for timing chain noises but didn't notice any untoward noises yesterday. Thinking of making an adaptor to fit a pressure gauge. I see sender units for series 2 & 3...

    Rattlely SC.

Well, got my gold plated big end shells last week and fitted them this morning. The rattles have disappeared, took her for a drive and got her warm after lunch 100 +kph and no engine noises, but...oil light comes on at idle when warm. When I got the car oil light had a blown bulb, probably as...

New TC exhaust manifold not plane

If you wanted to go to the trouble, I'd drill a heavy plate, or use an old head, to line up with the manifold, loosely bolt if together, get out the gas torch, heat up the offending branch red hot and tighten everything up. Cheers Tony.

which 2 seater open top classic?

You won't get much of a British one for 2000 pounds. BEWARE OF RUST. I've got a Mk4 Spitfire which is not rusty but would cost a lot more than 2 grand if it were in England. I'd also suggest an MX5, very little maintenance required :P Tony.

    Rattlely SC.

Having looked all over the net, I can find any thing but standard size shells, so have reluctantly ordered the gold ones. Just had a cateract op yesterday so it may be a while until I can fit them. Will keep you updated. Tony.

Gentlemen, Many thanks for your suggestions, I'll try a bit more to see what I can locate, but I have a feeling I may have to go for the gold plated one's. One more silly question, are the big end nuts reusable or as Mr Haynes says they have to be renewed....I don't always trust what he tells...
