Fitting Webasto

The suns been shinning round here so you may be able to open it for about 7 miles Mick  Have a good journey back to Manchester in case I don't see you tomorrow but call me if you fancy a stop and a cuppa etc sent you a pm

The original roof stayed on so no need to mess around with the Huntsman, whick I think was better. The inside apparently was a bit of a pain as the headlining although looked good as it was taken down the stitching was not brilliant, but Peter managed to do a decent enough job i think

So now we have the money shot, the Webasto open, I have tried it open whie driving home for a bit, bloody cold though, surprisingly not that much noise , was expecting alot worse so thats a bonus, Now BRING ON THE SUMMER :D

AHH, nearly forgot, Did ask if Peter knew of anymore Huntsman around, He has enough to cover 1 P6 roof, he is still asking around all his contacts for any more and will let me know if he sources any.

Looks great Mick , that's the only thing i wish mine had , but as it hasn't i hope it rains all summer

Thanks peeps, Stina im ahead of you, as i play golf i have a really big umbrella and it doesn't turn inside out, might be tempted :D

My rover is REALLY envious, and jealous now!! :(
Have promised him he will be done by easter!!

How about replacing all the roof securing bolts with 1/4 turn fastners, then you can take the roof panel out for summer

Looks good, Mick. Peter Harvey refurbed my roof (in black) around 1998. Still looks as crisp as the day he did it.

Had a chat to Peter Harvey about mine this eve, have agreed a price, and am taking folding section off this weekend to send to him,and hopefully it will be back by next weekend!
Will have to fit some form of temp roof if poss,as its my daily driver, although I may just use the TR6 for the week whatever the weather is like,as it needs a bit of fresh air and use anyway!
There will be a slight colour difference as the roof panel has faded, but at least it will look better than a ripped folding roof!!
And,as and when I finally track some more material down I will recover the roof and 1/4's.

The great thing is that my roof was fitted to the 1973 car I got it from,by Roof installations in London in 1973 this was the company Peter was working for, fitting the webasto sunroofs to P6's, so its very likely he actually fitted it when new in 73! :)
He is just coming up to celebrating 45yrs of fitting webasto sunroofs,so a very experienced chap indeed.
If I remember I will take a few pics of the stripdown and reassembly process.
CANT WAIT!!!

Thanks anyway John!!
I dont actually need any as mine are pretty good anyway, just slightly faded, and ive a spare black set I can recover and fit when the time comes.
Also these are not quite proper huntsman as the ad from Nick states!!
A good few doses of armoural restorer may well do the trick making the color match better.

Dave,
I should have looked at the listing a bit better  I didn't see who was listing them
Bit of Cherry Blossom dark tan, sorted!

John.

Really glad that with great help, one of us eventually found some material, and its managed to do 2 cars.
I was beginning to think it would never happen!

Well that didnt take too long! :) :)
An hour saw a few dozen screws, some popper fixings, and with very gentle "clean" hands had the roof panel out and the top seperated from the headlining ready to send off.
Now to find something to wrap it in!
Wood and operating levers all looking good, but an ideal chance to treat and lube things while I can, also will replace all the fixing screws with s/steel ones.
Luckily I had a suitable bit of 5mm white foamalux to screw on as a temp roof for the week.

Just don't think it's going to be right, in 1974 could I buy an 3500s Arctic White and Black , with Mango interior?

Now think hard....... What colour scheme was the car your leather came out of????

There's a clue at the bottom of the post!
