All back together and running but the fuel sender does not work i earth it and it went to full so sender faulty i think, but good job done in cleaning out the crud not a bad as i thought it would be, will have to order another unless someone knows how to fix it ??

float was fine chris i earthed the unit onto the brake drum and it gave me a reading i thought it was ok but alas no still one job done.

Hi all had te brakes replaced yesterday with new calipers as this was the problem not the servo as suggested by another garage as boy does she run well now. i expect a massive improvement in fuel consumption now. Still looking for a fuel sender following being mucked around by a guy on Ebay for two weeks. Next job is to tune but she is running so well i am going to check the fuel consumption first. i have replaced the breathers so next step oil change, then plugs fuel filters etc. So nice to be running so well goes like a dream the garage loved the engine....yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Well the nice running car is not running so well te brakes are binding again this is getting me down now and very expensive too. And a tree jumped out on the back of the car when i was reversing into a gap. Not a happy time at the moment

Keep going! Sounds obvious, but you should find that once these niggles are well and truly sorted you'll end up with a few years of hassle free motoring!

If i can afford it i have spent around £600 now so the car is getting near its limit. and at £75 per tank with only 10 MPG its very very unhealthy and that tree really pxz%88 me off too that is going to cost a little too although i have been offered help and she has now got a fuel leak from the pump arghhhhhh

On the servo front i found mine were sticking on slightly. Wins were able to supply the small white return valve bit on top that sorted mine out. Basically when pulling off after braking they were staying on.

On the economy front, either your right foot is made of lead, the fuel leak is very bad or your carbs are out of balance at a guess?

Rich

As far as the tree is concerned guy yes of course :D :D

The cars carbs are ok i am gentle and its all about the brakes they stay on for a long time just binding a little its ok first of and gets progressively worse after say ten miles town driving. The leak is minimal but needs doing.......i cant tune it till the brakes are ok but she is a sweet runner so i think its the brakes doing all the damage.

You may have the answer here Robert its worth a try, it sound the same symptoms to me :?: :?: :?: when the pipe was taken off the brakes released imediately :!:

I wouldn't even be driving it if the brakes weren't working correctly

What you've spent at 10 to the gallon could have fixed 'em IMO.

Stand back, take a deep breath and work your way through one job at a time in the correct order. You'll soon be there

Oh dear the car is still in the garage rear brakes new seals etc and one getting hot really worried now re cost anyone got a few pennies to spare

The rears often get ignored because they're difficult to do.. then you get to the point where they cant be ignored!

Hi Robert . When the rear calipers were done did they replace the flexible brake hose between the calipers ? They can break down internally with no signs outwardly and cause the caliper to stick ! :!:
