P6s in Greece

Right here in Thessaloniki.
And it's a 3500S, a rather rare beast over here. Probably there are less than 5 P6Bs in the whole country and the first one i see in flesh out of UK.

My understanding is that there will never be a cheaper time to buy a car right now in Greece  hand in wallet time
A nice set of Sundym and a boot kit............ lovely, I guess rust is not a problem in Greece?

That looks like it could be a fantastic project, and in one of my favourite colours! Interesting that the V8s are so rare. Is that as a result of the taxation class system?

Rust? Well, my car had some problems, mainly at the doors and boot floor due to a hard life and neglect in the past, but this is something else. It belonged to a long established tile company http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philkeram_Johnson that went bankrupt a couple of years ago. It was the personal car of the founder of the company. Although it is obviously repainted, as it was probably garaged all its life, despite the stone hard rubber seals, there is no trace of rust anywhere. It has ambla interior, sundym glass, a metal sliding sunroof that looks original and an unusual A/C installation. The evaporator is installed in the front passenger footwell, and there are flexible ducts feeding cold air to the car's standard heater air ducts behind the dash. Although the passenger glovebox looks standard and does open, there is no storage space in it anymore. The evaporator restricts a little the space in the passenger footwell, but not terribly so. The two rotary controls are fitted between the lighter and the map light. A rather neat installation with a couple of sacrifices. It has around 140,000 Kms on the clock and it was put on storage on the stands some time in 1996. It's price is not expensive at all for what it is at 2,100 euros, but in order to pay all the relative taxes for the ownership change the sum will almost double up. The only viable possibility of owning it is with historic vehicle registration (normal registration for this would mean road tax at 1100 euros per year) but this restricts severely the right to use it (classic car rallies only...). Then i need to find a place to store it, and last but not least i already have a very nice P6 that i use and enjoy almost every day. The blue one would be an expensive ornament that would also require money put into it, as it is the case with all old cars, irrespective of the use. Plus, i always wanted the third addition to the fleet to be a Land Rover product. Last week i just missed a 1984 two door Range Rover, but as it was in Athens, some 500 Kms away, it wasn't easy for me to organise something.
Fraser, a P6B, due to its engine size and the heavy taxes it attracted, was seriously expensive over here in its day, and at that kind of money most of the people preferred to buy Mercedes or Jaguar.
