Richard William Taylor, 20/07/71 to 20/06/12

Simply tragic. My thought are with his family at this sad time. Life taken before its time is always the most affecting, Richard I wish you peace.

Such sad news. Thank you Richard for all you did to further the 'cause' and the ever growing list on this posting bears testament to the high esteem in which you were held, undoubtedly irreplaceable.
Sincere condolences to Richards family.

Deepest condolences to all Richards family and friends, i've only been on here about a year but still felt i knew him .

My sincere condolences to Richards's family and friends. As has already been expressed by others on here, I too felt as if Richard was a friend whom I had hoped one day to meet.
Might it be possible in Rovering circles to honour our departed friend with a trophy bearing his name? Perhaps it might be awarded to the most tastefully customised P6 at a suitable annual meet?
I've wanted a two door P6 V8 coupé since I was a teenager. I actually illustrated one once, lowered and pillarless, in goache, seems absolutely ages ago now, must have been back in the mid eighties. I'm now motivated to attempt to construct myself a real one, very much inspired by everything Rick achieved toward realising his own. His hard work, and he had done so much, shows just how feasible such a project is.
Cheers Rickster! Kindred spirit. You will be missed.

i was thinking exactly the same , an award not for a standard car , but for modified, he definitely did a great deal in this forum for forwarding our hobby and uniting owners of these great cars worldwide, and if we need to forward each some cash in order to do this i will be up for that, thanks, rich

Very sad to hear this, Richard was always one to offer positive input, I felt, on whatever subject here. Never got to meet him. Rest in peace Richard.

I first met Richard at Twycross Zoo at one of the last 'old' P6ROC rallies and also had many discussions over the Forum and by PM and phone. A genuine and honest Rover nut of the best kind.
Richard has done probably more than anyone to bring us all together over the internet to solve our problems and further the interest in our cars. I think a trophy in his name would be very honourable and worthwhile.
Richard leaves us with a real legacy and his name will be engraved in the hearts of our "Rover Family" worldwide.

My condolences to his family

Bri.

I remember the time a few years ago when we were having a big argument about the P6ROC becoming a business ( or something like that) .Richard kept us all together through that and we've existed in relative harmony ever since
His name will live on in Rovering circles

Yes, the Richard Taylor award for modified cars sounds a fine idea. I was very gratified at his reaction when I posted the photos of the freshly finished Bruiser:

Wow, I love that, seriously cool !, could just do with the front end dropping an inch or two.
Though I guessed that if anyone would dig her, then Richard would.

And I came across another of Richard's posts regarding a point which I think we forget too easily in the modern world regarding the work/life balance:

hopefully I'll have more time at home rather than working 6 days a week once I'm fixed, so I can get back on it.

Despite the need for us all to make a living, not too many people will regret the fact that they didn't spend more time at work. Particularly poignant at this time I feel.

Very sad news.
Despite the fact that I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Richard, it's clear from other entries on this forum that he is, and will continue to be, held in high esteem by those who knew him and benefitted from his friendship and expertise. However, I would like to offer my condolences to his family and friends.

I have just read this and it is indeed very sad news.

Gone to soon and he will be fondly thought of and sadly missed.

Thoughts are with the family, thanks to Pete for keeping us update throughout.

Colin

My deepest condolences to Richard's family.

Richard was a man who gave so much for others. A computer expert and a Rover fanatic but above all a really nice person and a true gentleman. Richard always looked on the bright side and even when not well was happy to discuss other peoples problems on the phone. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
