Richard William Taylor, 20/07/71 to 20/06/12

I've just signed up to say that we at http://www.rover800.info are shocked and saddened by this news. Richard was an active member of our forum and was immensely well liked, as well as being highly respected for his work on his Rovers etc.

On behalf of our members I would like to send my condolences to Richard's family and friends. We'll miss him.

In order to better remember him and to perhaps make some sense of his untimely death, we are discussing organising a donation to a Leukaemia research charity on his behalf. If anyone has any suggestions as to which one (perhaps his family have a preferred option) please let me know either here or at http://www.rover800.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9171 and we'll go from there.

I'm very sad to hear this awful news. Like many on here, I never met him but communicated with him from time to time through this great forum. He will be sadly missed by so many. My condolences and very best wishes go to his family and friends. Colin

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Richard I have spoken with Joanne today re funeral arrangements.

I have been asked to set up a 'Just Giving' Page for those who wish to use that as a method of paying some form of tribute to Rick

Hold fire for a day or so and I will get this up and running over the weekend and post details on this forum and the Rover 800 forum.

Cheers
Pete Knowles ( Oracle on here and Pete K on the 800 forum)

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR RICHARD

OK

Joanne has asked me to post up the following information

Richards funeral with be next Thursday 28th June 2012

The Cortege will leave Richard's Home at 14.10hrs
It is a request that only family and close friends leave from the house
this is only due to logistical reasons as the street is very narrow.

A service will be held at Wakefield Crematorium at 14.40hrs
Please use this link for address & maps of location http://www.wakefield.gov.uk/Communi...Services/Crematoria/wakefield_crematorium.htm

Following the service there will be a gathering of friends and family at Sandal Rugby Club at approximately 15.30 hrs onward
where there will be a celebration of Richards life and time and space to talk with family and others
who knew Richard in his many guises as a Family Man, Workmate and Petrol Head.
Please use this link for address & maps of location http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/sandalrufc/location/

Now with that all lisited I can move on to the requests for people to follow the Cortege in their Classic Rovers.

With Joanne's permission this will be possible.
I am trying to organise a 'collection point' as close as possible to Rick's house and on the immediate route of the Cortege.

I have spent some time today with West Yorkshire Police re the logistics of this and the legal requirements.
Whilst not yet in full possession of the facts the Police can see no problem
with what we wish to do to 'escort' or should that be 'Rover-cort' Richard.
I will probably have a meeting with them over the weekend or Monday / Tuesday.

I should have more details on this 'collection point' soon so please keep looking on this thread.

I have been passing all your messages of condolence on and will continue to do so.

Maybe at some point in the future Jo and the boys may read this thread
and take some comfort knowing that Richard had a wide circle of friends
in the car community who thought a great deal of the man and his knowledge
and appreciated the time he spent trying to help others in the Rover World as a whole.

Unfortunately I'm away on Thursday, but I'll have a few moments silence to remember him.

I do hope there will be a good turn out though.

Been away from the Forum for a few days and saddened to find this thread :(

Not much more I can add but a great loss to many I'm sure.

RIP Rick.

Very sad news indeed, please pass on our condolences to Richards family. Richard was one of life's good guy's, and we will all miss him as a friend and Rover Guru.

Very sad news indeed, Richard was always so positive and helpful to all the members of this community – he will be greatly missed.

There but for the grace of God go all of us but Richard has been taken far too early. God Bless

This is very sad news :( .I read this post earlier in the week and wanted to comment, but I'm always worried I'll say the wrong thing in circumstances such as this. Like most here I never met Richard but would have liked very much to have met him. He had such positive feedback to give, often interspersed with good humour but helpful nonetheless. My condolences to Richards family and all who knew him.

I´ve read the news earlier.
I could not think of something to say/write.
I still can´t.

We had hoped to meet Richard in Petworth, if not all healthy then at least capable to attend the meeting.
I keep thinking about how to pay him respect when we are there.

Condolences to his family and friends.
This is so sad.
